Various entities are doing all they can to entice Americans to get the coronavirus vaccine. It's a little weird.
Close your eyes and think back to a time in which you, your kids, or any other loved one received a vaccine. Chances are, the event wasn't treated as if it was some grandiose event. No, the vaccine was simply administered, and you moved on to other things. That nonchalant, non-celebratory attitude toward vaccines was an almost universally accepted outlook for decades. However, in 2021, a new precedent seems to have been set.
Indeed, with the arrival and widespread distribution of several different coronavirus vaccines, getting the vaccine has become something of a special occasion. People gleefully post photos of themselves with their vaccine cards as if they had accomplished a spectacular feat. Birthdays, weddings, baptisms, graduations, and vacations, fine — but a vaccine? That just doesn't seem right to me.
People are being misled into believing they're virtuous and brave for taking a highly experimental vaccine that was hastily conceived and is the first mRNA vaccine ever distributed. We don't know what negative effects the vaccine will have on our bodies. We don't know if there will be side-effects or the possibility of death later on. Despite this, the media, businesses, and government officials have helped create what I call the "Cult of the Vaccine."

It seems weird to me too. If it is for my own good why are politicians hyping it so much?
It’s the exact same principle as the cult of the maskie-waskie. It’s one of the criteria by which you either are, or are not, accepted by so-called “society”. If you don’t get the vaccine, the herd will attempt to reject you.
I have been getting all but harassed by my MIL and another friend to get the vaccine asap!

They ATTACK anyone who even dares to attempt to have a meaningful discussion about the vax, ask questions, or express concern. You are attacked and labeled “anti-vax nutjob.”
It is weird and surreal, especially when you CANNOT get a straight answer on whether or not YOUR vaccination prevents you from spreading covid to others. If your vaccination only protects YOU, then why do they give a crap if you get one or not?
The author clearly is too young to have been here for the first Polio vaccine. It was, indeed, a 'grandiose event'. I was in grade school at the time, and it changed my life. Before the vaccine, I had to fear my closest friends. I wasn't allowed to go to county fairs, large gatherings of children, or most any other like events. After the little sugar cube with a pink drip on it, I was a kid again. It was Grand, indeed.
Will never forget Biden telling us we might be able to celebrate Independence Day with a few friends in our backyard —but not TOO many friends-— IF we get the vaccine “....when it’s your turn.” My turn? Isn’t that up to me? And yes, people are finding all kinds of ways to ask about my vaccination status without coming right out and asking it. As if it’s their business (which they firmly believe it to be...).
I am symptom free and have tested negatively within the last 2 weeks and follow sensible protocols. I also have been sequestered in my own home for almost a year. I rarely go out and haven't gassed up my car for as long as I can remember. My car's battery has died twice. Yet...here we are.

This is factually incorrect. It is fine if you are (I believe foolishly) anti-Vax. But stating things patently false is NOT a Conservative value.
mRNA vaccines have been around for a number of years. It is true it is newer than something like the flu vaccine but that does not mean it is not good. And after literally millions of vaccinations and .0001% or fewer problems this attempted argument is empirically wrong.
The vaccine went through ALL the steps any and all vaccines go through.
The difference is Operation Warp Speed put those steps at the front of the line at every step and it had government expediters to ensure these steps hit as few bureaucratic snags as possible. The steps themselves were NOT skipped, streamlined or given short shrift.
Remember: Warp Speed was Trump’s now-successful initiative and now that ahole bidet is taking credit for it.
Thanks for the balanced perspective. I’m glad to have been vaccinated against something that is potentially debilitating or fatal. Maybe the anti-vaxers can hate on Trump while they are at it because we have Covid vaccines thanks to Operation Warp Speed.

Watching all of the lies and hype is nauseating. Some act like they have finally become patriotic ad display a holier than thou attitude.
Beyond that, why are they trying to coerce us to get it with threats to take away our freedoms if we don’t?
There is far more to this vaccine than protecting the health of the unwashed the elites have no use for and who are considered expendable.
Another vote in the “glad to be vaccinated” camp, even though I had a strong reaction to the first dose..
Getting the second shot early next week. Am I a little bit concerned about that and how fast the vaccines were brought to market? Absolutely. But as others have said..no steps were skipped. Trump simply got the bureaucratic red tape out of the way to accelerate the timeline on an otherwise normal, thorough process.
Cases here are going bonkers. We’re up to 4,500+ cases a day again. 7 day rolling average yesterday was 2,900+.
COVID hospitalizations here are up 800% for those ages 40 - 49 and 633% for those 30-39. I don’t have the stats for ages 50+, but both of those are significant increases.
It’s not just gonna go away on it’s own.
And then, it seemingly took on a life of it's own, as people who are ordinarily full of fear, resentment, and anger of other people (also known as Democrats, progressives, leftists, etc)found support from the mainstream media and Democrat leaders to impose their control over everyone.
My biggest concern is that now that the left has tasted the extreme power and control this has brought, they will not want to scale it back. The vaccine, with all it's questions, seems to be the only avenue, at the moment, to counteract this expansion of government power. And even that is tenuous, and we see that some are demanding we wear masks regardless of immune status.
All I see now are more Karens than ever masked up and a incredible amount of information, misinformation, half-truths, outright lies and contradiction concerning all things Covid. It’s like aliens took us over. Even Freepland is part of the Covid and vaxx hysteria

That is so disingenuous by the vax pushers.
Someone having legitimate concerns about a rushed experimental treatment for a disease that has other treatment options that are being denied to people and has a fairly low mortality rate unless the government interferes and has you murdered, is not by default an *anti-vaxxer*.
Concern over ONE vaccine does not mean someone objects to every one.

It’s real hard to be positive about the vaccine when the origin, spread, number of shifty self-important personalities involved, alleged criteria for diagnosis, number and kinds of remedies, final outcome for survivors, etc. are accepted/refuted on an hourly basis.
Then there is the idea that the lockdown is (and was from the very start) part and parcel of the Pelosi election con..... that if nothing else, means both the virus and the ‘cure’ are dubious.
In the mean time, you are totally welcome to have your own view about the vaccine but, so is everyone else You’ll have to allow that a great many Americans are by now at the gag-point with ANYTHING & EVERYTHING that comes out of DC
Except the study on the long term effects of the vaccine which cannot be done within the time frame this vaccine came out.

Why is it some people cannot see how insidious this all is?
Despite what someone posted up thread, this jab has not been tested for long term effects. Unless we have been lied to again. If that is the case, I would really be worried about the reason for this so called vax.
