I just wanted to find out if others get frequent (daily) calls from self-described buyers of residential properties.
I know where it comes from. These numerous “real estate courses” which which advertise on junk t.v. and radio spots make unrealistic promises of 6-figure income with little or no personal money invested. It’s a scam, but it’s amazing how many people fall for it and then begin hectoring home owners non-stop about selling their home, hoping to score on a distress sale. I know how to get out of it by just pricing my modest home in the millions, but would like to get off these lists.
Is there a do-not-call list which will get these off my back, or does these fraudsters not have to comply?
There are no teeth to the Do Not Call registry:
“Since 2015, the Federal Communications Commission has ordered violators of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, a law governing telemarketing and robodialing, to pay $208.4 million. That sum includes so-called forfeiture orders in cases involving robocalling, Do Not Call Registry and telephone solicitation violations.
So far, the government has collected $6,790 of that amount, according to records obtained by The Wall Street Journal through a Freedom of Information Act request.”
Yep! As of 2019, the US Government had collected a grand total of less than $7,000 in fines!
“AND I get to help sellers who need fast help.”
No you are just helping your self no need to blow smoke up my ass but sounds like you are doing well
Thanks!
I’ve been looking at moving to another location in Arizona. Given up. Prices are insane and not connected to local wages. In a variety of towns in southern Arizona, I’d guess the average home is under contract within a week.
It would make it nice for SELLING my home, but I need somewhere to move TO!
Just got the first one today.
check and see if your property taxes are listed as delinquent...
It comes in waves on my phone. For grins I’ve answered a few. I tell them I want $25 over sales price of comps in my area, as is condition, no costs out of pocket, and to be taken off call list.
It is very annoying. It’s been a couple weeks since I’ve had a call
Yeah, in actual real life, Al, there are people who are on the edge of losing their properties due to bankruptcy, divorce, job changes, health issues, and a new little thing called COVID. I can only imagine how many more are going to get screwed over in two or so years when our oh so benevolent GOV insists on collecting property taxes not paid since 2020.
Not often, but daily I receive the car warranty call.Same here.
My Robokiller app handles them nicely.
I get at least ten a week on both my landline AND my cell phone. Calls AND texts. I’ve opted out and even told them they have the wrong number, which they do, because they are always asking for MY number. My husband doesn’t get ANY of the calls. It’s so annoying.
I don’t know because if I don’t recognize the phone number, I don’t answer the phone.
Same here, but I’m getting at least ten a week.
I’ve gotten maybe two or three legit ones, like you. A lot of them are foreign. I keep wondering if some of these aren’t from Chinese buyers.
You are so right.
I never answer calls from numbers I don’t recognize. After they hang up I wait a minute to see if they leave a message. If not, I list them on my contact list as xxxxxx.
No calls. Tons of letters and post cards though.
I et emails. One says, “We buy ugly houses!” I emailed them back and asked, “Then why do want to buy mine?”
Yes.
And I always suggest they go fornicate themselves.
“I also get numerous calls about solar panels on my roof. I’m suspicious but want to know what that’s all about. Are they really just renting your roof as a cheap spot for their OWN panels, making most of the money themselves?”
Ain’t no way I’m allowing people to drill holes in my roof. It’s doing great, and I plan to keep it that way.
