“In recognition of their service as part of the security mission at the U.S. Capitol and other facilities in Washington, D.C., before, during and after the 59th Presidential Inauguration, the District of Columbia National Guard plans to present all Soldiers and Airmen who took part in the mission one or both of the following decorations: the District of Columbia National Guard Presidential Inauguration Support Ribbon and/or the District of Columbia Emergency Service Ribbon,” Carver said in a statement.
“Both ribbons are District-level decorations. Plans for their presentation are not yet final. Other federal decorations are also being considered.”

Participation Trophy First Class with crossed chicken strips.
What are the DC and Capitol Police getting? I can imagine they’re quietly nudging their union reps for something similar.
The 201 stain ribbon.
This is the nub of it where a failure to display the award on the uniform when taking the official photograph that goes in the personnel jacket when being considered for promotion is taken into account negatively by the promotion board.
I would drop it on the ground at the feet of the officer who handed it to me.
All the DC ‘occupation troops’ ought to go to the WH and pitch them over the fence!!
Strictly speaking, not by Army Regulation. That said, lower level commands may mandate that a soldier wear all earned ribbons/medals for various functions, inspections, events etc. Also, a DA Photo is probably one of the most important documents for consideration by all officer and senior NCO promotion, command and other selection boards. A discrepancy between the badges, tabs and awards worn in the photo and the supporting documents in the file would generally be regarded as a pretty big negative (usually in reverse though, for awards worn with no supporting documentation).
At least part of the thought behind that is that an officer or senior NCO, responsible for keeping their soldiers squared away, should not have his/her own personnel file in disarray.
Slow Joe could use one.....give Dr Jill a break.
Those are the brown and red ribbons...aka chicken ribbons...
And a bag of cookies.

More importantly, it was an easy way to distinguish between candidates for promotion. I’ve heard tales of those on promotion boards scrutinizing official photographs with a magnifying glass comparing awards with the paperwork.
An incredibly lazy thing. If I were in charge of a promotion board and I caught someone doing this, they would have been out on their ass.
You have to think like the Pentagon. If a soldier got food poisoning they’d throw in a ‘Combat V’ with the basic “I Was There” ribbon.
Must be hell getting thru the airport metal detector in Pyongyang.
You never get what you deserve and you never deserve what you get.
Soldiers arent required to do anything they dont want to do.
Those would be uncooked chicken strips.
Where are the ribbons for eating that and metal shavings?
Hahaha.
Participation ribbon.
