I created this thread to solicit input on one's experience with Covid. NOT to debate Covid, its origins, etc.
If you had it, tested positive for it, then I'd like your input.

While I have not had it my sister and one daughter had tested positive. After speaking with them they both said it was like the flu but more severe. Neither said they felt their lives were in danger.
Mine started out with a barely noticeable tickle in my throat on the 3rd morning after I got exposed (Thursday evening to Sunday morning). Went to church with mask on, got instant tested that afternoon. Had a moderate fever 3 nights running, each one broke middle of the night. Had a little chest congestion with cough - treated with OTC cough syrup.
No other symptoms - none! Wasn’t tired, no lower-GI distress, never lost sense of smell or taste, didn’t get achy or fatigued.
No one I was around after getting exposed (except those knuckleheads who made me sick all got it and were worse off than me). Not my girlfriend, not my adult son who I helped move house with friends, nobody at church.
Oh, and I’m 66 years old.
Wow. Never heard that. Does it have something to do with blood flow to the extremities?
Sure seems like a city disease. We had one person in town get it and he had made a trip to St Louis. Then it finally made it’s way into the nursing home my wife works at and it was one of the workers who brought it in and she had made a trip to St Louis as well. They did a good job of keeping people alive and not spreading it to the whole town though. Lost two people with underlying conditions out of 35 cases. They set up a covid wing and only a set group of people worked it. No one else allowed in. In fact no visitors were allowed for a long time. Deliveries were dropped off outside and a worker would bring them in later. When the weather was good they started allowing visitors but it would happen outdoors at a table 6 foot across and both would wear masks. Smart bunch of dumb rednecks. But personally, No one I know or anyone they know have gotten it.
I’ve read about how different blood types have different susceptibility to COVID which got me to thinking “I wonder what my blood type is?”
I went through all my medical records and couldn’t find it. I contacted my doctor and was told that they don’t regularly check blood type. Furthermore, they said it is an expensive test and usually not covered by insurance.
I thought we were all supposed to carry our blood type on emergency medical information cards in case you get in an accident and they need to transfuse you.
Needless to say, I was surprised by all this.
Mrs. JimRed and I both had the virus back in November and recovered. We are in our 70s and have other medical issues. I had the symptoms first, cold-like discomfort and a slight fever (never exceeded 101) on a Saturday afternoon. I emailed a warning to the guys I’d played b-ball with that morning and went on line to schedule a COVID test for both of us. We were able to be tested on Tuesday and the results came back on Thursday, both positive.
By then she was running a fever worse than mine (which was gone by Thursday) and peaked at 104. We were not prescribed any medication, only advised to treat it like a bad cold or the flu, with rest, fluids and Tylenol or aspirin. Her fever subsided by the weekend, but we both felt crappy for several more days.
We both lacked appetite and neglected to eat on a couple of days until I scheduled myself to make meals even if not hungry. The lingering effect we have is a diminishing of taste and smell, though not a total loss.
Our Jewish sister-in-law sent over a half gallon of chicken soup; I’m sure that was the cure!
I pray that you folks will come through it as well as or better than we did.
No idea. I just found it interesting that Submareener brought up something that my wife experienced. It could be completely unrelated.
My daughter works in a hospital emergency room, and since she loves me, she gave all of us the ChiCom Flu the last week in January Last Year before it was a Political Fashion Statement.
Her and her husband had a mild flu for a week or so, their kids barely a sniffle and it didn’t slow em down a bit. I had a Weak Cold for a few days and just felt a little off, My Wife was Sick as a dog for 2 weeks.
If you've ever served in the armed forces it is stamped on your dog tags. Or it was, back in '61-'64 when I served.
Nope, I never served.
Male, 59. I’m pretty sure I had it about a month ago. I woke up with a sore throat and then pretty quickly got a huge headache, congestion and extreme fatigue. I had a slight loss of taste and smell. Here’s the treatment that worked for me:
It was a nice sunny day, so I moved our couch close to our big picture window. I turned up the heat, and I spent the day lying on the couch in the sun. I only wore shorts so my skin would absorb as much vitamin D as possible. I sucked on zinc lozenges all day. I made sure that I perspired a lot. I drank lots of hot fluids and urinated frequently. 24 hours later, all of my symptoms were gone.
My best friend’s two college age sons got vivid about 6 weeks ago. She sequestered them in the in law suite in the basement. Left their food by the door. They had the equivalent of mild head colds and lost sense of smell and taste. 3 days later they were fine. Took awhile to get back smell and taste. She and her husband never caught it.
Me too. Used my FSA card to cover it :)
Well I didn’t read the whole thing. I am a freeper after all. I just scanned the symptom list because I thought sneezing was not on the list so I wanted to know if I was remembering correctly. I wore a mask once for 10 minutes last year. Most people out here don’t wear them, except for workers who deal with the public and food. Gals at the DMV weren’t wearing them when I went in a couple of days ago. Neither was the other customer. Bunch a stubborn country folk out here that are not very trusting of the government and not real big on LEOs. Mostly Christian, everyone’s got a gun or several. Just leave us be is the attitude.
Did your wife ever come down with it or experience symptoms?
If you donate blood or platelets, they will type your blood and tell you. The organization I donate to (NOT Red Cross) also checks cholesterol level AND tests for Wuhan flu antibodies, which I can check online about 5 days after donating.
All this, plus saving lives!

I had Hepatitis A in my 20s and they wouldn’t take my blood. I haven’t checked to see if that restriction was relaxed.
It’s been almost two months for me, and I still don’t feel like my sense of smell is 100%.
