I started watching this show with an open mind. If there is evidence of Chinese expeditions to the Americas that pre-date Columbus, then I don't have a problem with that. But the flaws in the case presented began adding up, almost from the beginning. On top of that, I couldn't help but get a CCP vibe from some of the Chinese 'experts' being interviewed.
Anyway, have at it, history buffs, and let's see if we can catalog all the false or misleading conclusions/claims that were made.
Red Chinese propaganda.
Well then, Columbus should be let off the cancellation hook for ruining the Indians’ lives. Time to cancel the chinese instead.
For the record: Richard Halliburton died attempting to sail a Chinese junk from China to America
It is my recollection that sailors from the western lands of IndoChina now submerged sailed keeled rafts to America long before Columbus or Eric the Red
It certainly isn’t impossible. I think man has alternated between periods of advancement and decline. There is no reason to think that man hasnt been in North America from Europe or Asia. I have read that North America has its share of ooparts.
I believe that Columbus had nothing to do with zealous Franciscan friars implementing the Roman Catholic inquisition in America. They killed Indians in much the same way they killed heretics in Europe
Ping!
The Vikings came even before them. It makes no difference, though, if you do something, and then no one finds out about it for a few centuries.
yeah... they are called NATIVE AMERICANS!
OK, so what if the chinese made it to North America before Columbus. What did they do with that information?
Nothing.
Even less in the Americas.
Deaths from European diseases brought to the Americas - likely in the millions a year.
The History Channel lost all credibility when it started blabbing about ancient aliens who visited earth , left only stone constructions and no other evidence. It seemed that someone in control there saw 2001 Space Odyessy in college while on drugs and became psychotic. Might be what happened to most Democratic congressmen.
Everybody got to North America before Columbus, who didn’t get here at all.
Take a hike, chicom propagandists!
Inquisition on purpose deaths.
Disease in Americas not on purpose.
Now add in all the deaths to Europeans and those of European ancestry from tobacco from Americas.
Well, they didn’t civilize enough and keep it, so here we are.
I read Zinn’s ridiculous, childish version of American history and was gratified to read Mary Grabar’s brilliant refutation of it (2020) and McClay’s “Land of Hope” (2020) U.S. history book, hot off the press.
The fact is, inevitable contacts between advanced societies and primitive ones result in conflict. There is little point in casting blame. The newcomers are vastly outnumbered and the indigenous are fiercely territorial. No matter how the story plays out, something’s gotta give.
So I made light of the marxist-inspired revisionism and cancelation of the present. History is good to know, provided that it is the truth.
There were people in the Americas long, long before the last ice age. That is pretty well accepted now.
Chinese, Norse, Siberian....who cares? Its an interesting conversation, but it changes NOTHING.
No one cares.
I remember a book, about fifty or so years ago that the Lost Army of Alexander the Great sailed from India to the Americas. This was not a claim by Joseph Smith who say Israelites did it.
This is similar to Erdogan claiming Muslims discovered America first. It’s an attempt at a historical claim to rationalize a long-term future invasion they envision.
