I think Fox execs are superstitious about it. Given that Simpsons started on one of their first shows there’s never been a Fox without Simpsons. It could get 0 ratings and I think it would still be on. Just in case.
I used to watch cartoons. Then I turned thirty-seven................
I haven’t. Thanks!
The answer turned out to be about 2 more years.
Yep. It has turned into a heck of a pension plan for the animators, voice actors - and entire network, though.
The Simpsons were pure genius for the first 6 (or even 10) years. After that, not so much.
Making this one of the longest-running indoctrination programs the world has ever seen, even longer than “South Park”.
By the end of this run, Fox itself shall have become a mere shell of its former glory.
Yes. and Ms. Ullman sued Fox and James L. Brooks, claiming she was owed a share of the profits. She lost.
On the other hand, Sam Simon was one of the show’s creators; he was forced out in a dispute with Brooks and Matt Groening after only four years. But under his deal, Simon collected about $10 million a year for the rest of his life (he passed away from cancer in 2015).
Lesson one in Hollywood: get your guarantees in writing, up front, and if they’re not honored, lawyer up. Apparently, Brooks, Groening and Fox were happy to pay up, since The Simpsons was such a gold mine. Main voice talents are still collecting $250,000. Per episode.
I think 2021 will make the 24th season of South Park which is an extraordinary run for an animated TV series. I banned my kids from watching it when they were young. Now I’m hooked on it they could care less about watching it.
That is exactly when it stopped being constantly funny. After that, there would be 3 or 4 funny episodes a season.
I have never seen the show, due to the immediate repulsiveness of the characters. No interest in looking deeper.
ugh
Best bit ever.
I was sick of The Simpsons after season 2.
It’s alright i guess....FXX shows it for something like 5 hours every afternoon....i catch something like 5-10 seconds of it every here and there..
I was just telling my GF about the beach house party on cape cod i was at when a bunch of us went to the living room to watch the Simpsons premier.
Why?
I dunno....
seems like yesterday though, the memory is pretty vivid.
Was the First married with Children aired the same night?
i seem to remember it was.
Maybe it was MWC that we all sat and watched...
memory not THAT vivid it seems....
