PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) - Protests in the Pearl District and a number of shootings throughout Portland kept police busy all weekend - and frustrating residents throughout the city.
The shootings, which left 2 people dead, happened at reasonably the same time as the destructive demonstration in the Pearl District that ostensibly was a response to the Biden immigration policies, police brutality and racism.
There were also fights between protesters and onlookers Saturday night. Residents in the Pearl District said they are fed up with demonstrators vandalizing businesses and causing destruction.
“We want this stuff to stop. They don’t have the right to damage our property and scare people so they’re afraid,” said Pearl District resident Jane Orlowski. “We would like police here to be protecting our property.”
Orlowski said these protests have been going on for nearly a year “and we are so tired of it.”
“We don’t know why they’re in our neighborhood, what their point is. We see shops being boarded up again after they’ve just unboarded recently. And these small little businesses, they can’t afford this.”

What’s the problem? This is what they voted for.
“angry”
‘Oh you kids!’
How can the police be there if they are defunded?
What?!!! You don’t want the police defunded?!!!
YOU RACIST!!!!!!!!!!
Oh well. Votes have consequences. You back idiots talking about defunding the police you get what you deserve Portland.
Don’t leave. Stay there and embrace the suck you encouraged and voted for. Sometimes you get what you deserve.
You GET what you VOTED for, you idiots!! EMBRACE THE SUCK!
What amazes me is that these residents don’t fight back. I would think that a sniper taking out 3 or 4 rioters would quiet things down. And since the police don’t seem to care there is low risk.
Where I live just about everyone owns guns, don’t think rioters would last long.
And those same idiot residents will still vote democrat.
Oh the police would care.
It always depends on who dies.
They voted for it and likely supported it in the early days to be woke. Now they can deal with it. If they want it changed they need to DEMAND the Mayor let PD do their job ans start making arrests for both, DEMAND the DA start prosecuting the offenders. They need a Rudy o fix that mess.
Look up on YT videos of downtown PDX. Block after block of closed businesses, boarded up windows, jersey barriers, fences, etc. The ones that are still open are still boarded up or have steel grating and tarps over the windows. If that;s not bad enough hundreds of homeless camps full of filth every sidewalk, city park, etc.
Hey, I agree with “Jane”....although looks like a “John” to me. Portland is lost. Used to be such a pretty little city. I think anybody normal left a while back, so I don’t know how much pity I have for that place now.
Eat your peas Jane.
Agree. Portland use to be a very nice little city. I seriously thought about moving there at one time. But now it’s Berkeley upon the Columbia River. Sad end.

Sounds like Warsaw circa 1944.
Totally agree ... a few rioters getting ventilated, fatally or not would put a damper on the rioter’s enthusiasm.
I am sure that everyone here has noticed that this rioting crap does not happen much in open-carry states. Why do you think that is ... ?
It took a year for them to reach this point?
Sucks to be them.
Open carry, Carharts, full beards, Muck boots, buffalo plaid, big-ass 4WD trucks, disdain for flatlanders.
precisely, embrace the suck!
You morons, almost down to the person, all voted for this crap and these morons.
Embrace the suck! I encourage any good people of Portland to get out while you can.
