In Final Days, Trump Gave Up on Forcing Release of Russiagate Files, Nunes Prober Says
Real Clear Investigations ^ | 25 Feb, 2021 | Aaron Maté

After four years of railing against “deep state” actors who, he said, tried to undermine his presidency, Donald Trump relented to U.S. intelligence leaders in his final days in office, allowing them to block the release of critical material in the Russia investigation, according to a former senior congressional investigator who later joined the Trump administration.

Kash Patel, whose work on the House Intelligence Committee helped unearth U.S. intelligence malpractice during the FBI’s Crossfire Hurricane probe, said he does not know why Trump did not force the release of documents that would expose further wrongdoing. But he said senior intelligence officials "continuously impeded" their release – usually by slow-walking their reviews of the material. Patel said Trump's CIA Director, Gina Haspel, was instrumental in blocking one of the most critical documents, he said.

Patel, who has seen the Russia probe's underlying intelligence and co-wrote critical reports that have yet to be declassified, said new disclosures would expose additional misconduct and evidentiary holes in the CIA and FBI's work.

"I think there were people within the IC [Intelligence Community], at the heads of certain intelligence agencies, who did not want their tradecraft called out, even though it was during a former administration, because it doesn't look good on the agency itself," Patel told RealClearInvestigations in his first in-depth interview since leaving government at the end of Trump's term last month, having served in several intelligence and defense roles (full interview here).

In many respects, Trump was the president in name only.

The DOJ, CIA, NSA, FBI etc just gave him the middle finger, with a smirk.

As far as this patriot is concerned, NONE of the intel agencies look good! All appear to be corrupt, and hopelessly biased toward globalism, and anti-American.

And to Hannity, about the 99%... SHUT UP. Those organizations are corrupt to the core.

Trump knew it was no use in continuing. They were ALL against him. Even people he hired was gotten to almost immediately. If someone like Barr would have been on his side he could have gotten so much done to clean it up. I hope he has a new plan. Would love to see him make another run.

I would LOVE to have Trump run in 2024...but I would not wish another 4 years of hell for him and his family.

I would rather see Desantis as pres and governor Noem or Candace Owens as VP. Then have Trump behind the scenes advising or in a cabinet position..for trump,s sake.

Can The Swamp ever be drained? My guess is that it can't be...or,at least, won't be.

Many, many people...protected by a security clearance...are making *damn* good money in DC. Add to that what Kissinger once said ("power is the ultimate aphrodisiac") and you see the enormity of the problem.

Always remember...seven out of the ten richest counties in America are suburbs of one city. No,it's not New York,Chicago,LA,Dallas,Atlanta,Boston, etc. It's Washington DC,the one major US city that produces *nothing* of true value.

Big mistake. This capitulation, unfortunately, won’t save him, his family or US from persecution.

The bureaucracy is tough and will do extraordinary things to protect itself. Their view is that presidents come and go, but the bureaucracy is permanent. They know how to defend their empires.

Being from the private sector Trump was used to having his direction followed. He wasn’t used to insubordination and people putting their self interests above the company.

Once one agency was able to frustrate him it opened the door for the rest of the agencies to do the same.

Trump never really established control over the bureaucracy IMO.

All correct, I'd suspect.
Someday we may learn what was really going on behind the scenes, but most likely what Wray knew Trump also knew, so what was he going to do about it?

You may remember, at some of Trump's final rallies in 2020 he said, and his crowds roared back to him: "12 more years!" -- I wondered then, what's that all about?
Well, 12 years is the length from 2016 if he runs & wins again in 2024, serves to 2028.

So, did he "let it happen"? Did he "make it happen"? Or was he forced by "circumstances beyond control"?
We can only guess.

Americans who paid attention to “the resistance” for four years are not surprised by the coup. For four long years we watched the federal bureaucracy try to buck an elected president out of the saddle against the will the American people.

Quite true.

What is amazing is that it was an in-your-face 4-year event that became increasingly obvious even to most outsiders. The extent of the failure of critical institutions, apart from the simple failure itself, is becoming more evident on a daily basis.

There’s no point in Trump running again. He ran and won by a landslide in 2020, and where is he? Unless the massive system of election fraud is cleaned up, it’s a done deal. The dems don’t even have to pretend they want your vote any longer.

Trump was surrounded by Swamp Rats and could trust no one, not even his own cabinet officers or Intel chiefs.

They were ALL complicit in this coup. They told him lies and he trusted them. They were active participants in the plan from day 0..............................
