Doses Delivered: 976,000 (a low average day)
People Receiving 1st Dose: 833,000 (a low average day)
People Receiving 2nd Dose: 857,000 (a high average day) - the new norm, nearing a million per day.
The first time that more second shots were administered than first shots. Looks like second shots are levelling off around a million per day, which will take some wind out of the sails of first shots, until supply and retail capacity increase.
Administered more shots than were delivered - heading into the weekend delivery dry spell with a low on hand inventory of just under 18 million.
Rates have been depressed due to weather effects. We were scheduled for Tuesday last, but roads were closed. Working now to reschedule ASAP.
How about Covid vaccination deaths: https://www.medalerts.org/vaersdb/findfield.php?TABLE=ON&GROUP1=STA&EVENTS=ON&VAX=COVID19&DIED=Yes

I believe that. Also, Monday was a Federal Holiday.
Next week (26th) they will meet on the new Johnson & Johnson vaccine, and approval is expected within days.
When a third major producer joins the fray, that should provide a shot in the arm for the Program’s numbers (little pun there). The effect will likely ramp up through March, as they get to full rate production.

I’ve said for several weeks that the vaccination plans lacked specifics on how the shots would be administered. The Trump administration correctly left that to the states. However, the Trump administration could have insisted that the states provide that as part of their state plans. The states should have identified the vaccination locations, hours of operations, and more specifically, how should individuals apply for appointments, how individuals would be informed of their status and appointment dates. Instead those plans merely repeated federal guidelines for priorities, etc,.
Does that mean roughly 43 million Americans vaccinated so far, out of a 330Million population is roughly 43/330=13%of the population is now vaccinated. - Tom
Amen.
Also, an option to sign up by text should have been mandatory. None of this "Try to sign up by phone, and we'll drop you without notice if you miss our return call."
Just read that 50% of the population gets a flu shot every year. I have some doubt.
The special storage, weather, "group preference" "by appointment only" has screwes things up.
Things will ease up with a more consistent supply and changes in the storage requirement. (That one really gets me.)
When the pharmacies go full throttle (like they always do). These problems will go away.

I believe the appointment only is necessary. Can you imagine the lines if it were first come first served?
Appointments are necessary now because it’s by “groups”. But they will open it up and limit lines to supply available.
I'll take my chances with a virus that has a 99.98% survival rate.
When I went in to my local CVS pharmacy to pick up a prescription there was a sign No Vaccines available
When I got home here is part of an e- mail below.
Not that I am looking for a Moderna or Pfizer vaccination.
Dear Patient,
We know that many of you remain frustrated about access to the COVID-19 vaccine. I, too, am eager to see all Mass General Brigham patients receive the vaccine as quickly as possible.
Unfortunately, Mass General Brigham does not have any additional vaccine. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts informed us on February 11 that vaccine will no longer be distributed to any Massachusetts hospitals. The only sites that will receive vaccine are clinics operated by cities and towns, local pharmacies, and the state.
Because the survival rate is actually 99.35% and the hospitalization rate is 5%. Also, the “long-haulers” who suffer residual symptoms for months after “recovery” from infection.
For most people, being likely to survive, but possibly with bad symptoms for a long time including lung and/or brain damage is reason enough to jump at the chance to get a well tested vaccine that’s 95% effective and has very minor side effects for nearly all people.

Yes Sir, Correct.
Just one shot confers a significant degree of resistance to COVID-19 - more than the 50% threshold that Operation Warp Speed set for Emergency Use Authorization of a vaccine.
In addition to the growing and targeted vaccination, naturally acquired immunity due to exposure is probably 1/3 to 1/2 of the population already - although that will probably overlap with those who get vaccinated, to some unknown degree.
The appointment only deal is like a lottery here in NJ. We have the highest death rate in the world and seniors like me constitute 60% of the deaths yet I can’t get an appointment. The list of those who qualify is so long and unenforceable that anyone can get or try to get an appointment; hence chaos. Equity at work again. They should take the over 75’s first before everyone and work down to the younger groups even including health worjers., and certainly teachers. Hell here even smokers and prisoners get vaccinated. My wife and I no luck at 80.

How does one limit the lines when it’s first come, first served? You can limit the distribution, but the lines would grow. How would that affect social distancing? How long would the lines become?

The solution is limiting the groups with priority access. As predicted, every special interest group wants their members at the front of the line. The most absurd is teachers when the ‘science’ says they’re not likely to get infected since the children aren’t spreaders. They get this special treatment to reopen the schools, then the teachers say that isn’t good enough, they can’t reopen until all the kids are vaccinated too. Pure power play.
I had to have a Covid test before going to the hospital for surgery. Walgreens had a drive in set up. It was very efficient.
Just wait. There are plans in place. The problem is at the manufacturing end and the severe refrigeration problem which has now been done away with and governors like Cuomo interferring.
