A bubonic plague outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo has seen several dozen people succumb to the long-feared disease, which caused Europe’s Black Death pandemic in the 14th century. Multiple cases of the plague were identified in the Biringi area of Ituri Province in northeastern DR Congo between November 15 and December 13, Anne Laudisoit of New York-based NGO, Ecohealth Alliance, told AFP.
At least 520 people have become ill and “more than 31” of them have died, Ituri Health Minister Patrick Karamura told the outlet.
The vast majority of cases involved bubonic plague, with the exception of five instances of pneumonic plague and two instances of septicemic plague, which occur when the disease spreads to the lungs or blood, respectively.
Younger people were most affected, with the average age of patients being only 13. Among those infected was a three-month-old baby, according to Laudisoit.
The plague, which is caused by Yersinia pestis bacterium, is endemic to the province where it was first confirmed in 1926. Outbreaks occur regularly, with the World Health Organization (WHO) also issuing an alert over spiking cases of the disease in Ituri’s Rethy region in July last year.

DiNozzo got it on NCIS.
And we have our own democrat plague in this country hope all can live to tell grand kids about it.
Guess all their housemates will be on the next US bound plane to spread it.
;-)
Actually, I meant people from areas decimated by the plague. Generally speaking, that’s “Europeans”.
BTW, I got big points with an Iranian client a couple of decades ago when I mentioned to someone that they are not arab. They’re Arian. He was shocked that I knew that.
It’s always something.
Land of the Flea, and the Home of the Plague.... The old Bunonicom motto.
Oops Bubonicon
I believe you!
Sorry for being pedantic, but its Aryan not Arian.
Arians were followers of Arius who said jesus was a lesser god.
Aryans are north Indians and Iranians.
It is funny that Hitler thought Germans were Aryan. They weren’t!
Hey, Slim. How ya been? Hang on to your hat. We're getting pummeled west of the Sandias right now.
We’re expecting a bit of wind, but that’s good... will help dry out the range.
Well I began reading that a couple hours ago and still at it none stop as taing a few notes etc. What a read!.. Sucks you into it pretty fast for a Journey read. I am pleasantly surprised. Thanks for posting the link...Now back to the story..later then..
67 here.
Though I am retired I got a part time job 4 days a week where I walk 11 miles each day.
Lost 30 pounds and feel great.
down 2 sizes in pants.
Walking is great especially on Florida beaches.
Now still very healthy past 80 with daily exercise in the gym on treadmill and light weight lifting. I rarely see anyone over age 70 in the gym, which is a shame. I am now convinced, daily exercise gives us the best chance to live longer in good health.

OTOH
I am over 81 thought JIM was the correct spelling, had an op in 59 and another in 2007 when last physical was done (1st since USN discharge physical (we know what that used to be like), lived through tail end of TB, Polio, sailed for Japan and Far East in middle of Asian Flu World Pandemic (1957), never taken flu shot (maybe in Navy) and don’t intend to take this beerflu shot... have had no ‘real’ official Medical contact other than the two ops (2007 was for cataracts), didn’t go into self quarantine when ‘ordered’ to, don’t mask up (have respiratory problem) spent better part of civilian adulthood smoking & drinking, gave up both in 1990 etc etc etc..
All which proves your method is very sufficient for yourself, mine seems to have worked for me, still ‘work’ on a daily basis etc etc...
Like I say, not belittling your style or anyone elses’ but mine ‘works’ for me...
There 2 distinct benefits I have experienced through daily exercise:
1. Many health benefits, such as general avoidance of respiratory maladies. Have not even had a mild cold in 5 years. Heart tests coming back great. Blood pressure stays normal. Even my border line diabetic diagnosis in mid-50’s is no longer the case nearing age 81.
2. Feeling athletic, having great balance and avoiding falls which is common for people over age 65, and I see no reason to feel any less athletic at age 100 should I be so lucky and cancer does not take hold in my body. I remember reading an article which claimed exercise is beneficial in minimizing cancer risk. I hope it is true.
Keep up the walking. Florida beaches are great for walking. No need to overdo exercise. Quit as soon as you start feeling tired. Much more important is regular exercise. Like no missing more than 2 days in any one week.
Hitler’s biggest blunder was not recognizing potency of nukes. He did not give full support to German scientists & engineers working on nukes.
