SOMIS, Calif. — Thirty miles northwest of Los Angeles, the Lemon Hill grove — a square mile of rolling slopes covered with healthy young trees, laden with fragrant yellow fruit — evokes the Arcadian vistas of classic citrus crate labels. Everything looks familiar, but inside the lemons there’s a crucial difference: There are no seeds.

Adam Cooper, senior vice president of marketing for the Wonderful Company, estimates that the company’s seedless lemons will command a 50% premium over seeded fruit, boosted by a “robust marketing plan” including prominent displays in stores.

Rabe said that in a few years Wonderful’s seedless plantings will account for 10% of the United States lemon market, and the company’s ambition is that seedless lemons will ultimately replace seeded.

And I’ve yet to encounter “seedless watermelon” that lived up to its name. Fewer seeds? Sure. But seedless? Nope.
There Are No Jobs Americans Won’t Do
A detailed look at immigrants (legal and illegal) and natives across occupations
https://cis.org/Report/There-Are-No-Jobs-Americans-Wont-Do
Only 4 percent of illegal immigrants and 2 percent of all immigrants do farm work. Immigrants (legal and illegal) do make up a large share of agricultural workers — accounting for half or more of some types of farm laborers — but all agricultural workers together constitute less than 1 percent of the American work force.

And MOST crops do not rely on illegal and legal immigrant labor - they are harvested by machine.
Ok, you may have tried them and say you taste no difference.
But I would point out to you that not all people “taste” the same and GOD FORBID that what happened to grapefruit happens to lemons!
I know about grapefruit. DUNCAN GRAPEFRUIT, the most delectable, tangy, tarty sweetness of a Duncan Grapefruit is impossible to imagine unless you’ve had it before.
Duncan (or WHITE GRAPEFRUIT is the first kind of Grapefruit imported and grown in America, the sweetness is indescribable, but the seed content is off the charts, I gave two trees that started from seeds last year. Because of the seeds, it was slowly, at first supplanted by seedless varieties and is now pretty much a taste of people’s childhood.
The new normal is the red seedless grapefruit, on my list of grapefruit varieties they don’t even rate a 1.
Duncan grapefruit does have it’s fans, however, Trees have been planted and orchards have been blooming, owing to the large size of the fruit and the trees that bear them it will be YEARS before you can walk into a supermarket and buy a simple Duncan Grapefruit.
Hate the largely-Republican food producing areas, do you?
Do you eat nuts?
Grown in Arizona. The chocolate covered Pecans are very good. They also grow pistachios here.
No, I simply will go out of my way to buy products from my own state. Is that still legal?
There are. One of several seedless Grapefruit varieties
Georgia is a big nut producer also. Remember the worst President in history that wasn’t named Obama? He was a peanut farmer.
Pecans and almonds aren’t either if you want to get picky over it. Watermelons are berries. So are bananas but strawberries aren’t. It depends if you’re a Botanist or a consumer looking to buy products. Are you in lockdown? You must be pretty bored to quibble over whether a peanut is a nut or a bean. But all of these things are still grown in Georgia.
Americans are such wimps. Nothing wrong with seeds. No one likes seeds, why? Seeds in fruits are fine. They serve as natural roughage and a gut cleanser preventing diverticulosis among other gut problems. Fiber is good for you. Seedless grapes, oranges, watermelons, and on and on. I’ll take a red globe over a Thompson seedless anytime.
#1. Should be named the “Don Seedless Lemon”. You can suck it for flavor, tartness and juiciness as Yardstick wrote.
Oh am I bad tonight!
Whoa there on your nuts. Almost all nuts are mechanically harvested with tree shaking machines. Not touched by human hands throughout the process. There are too many illegals, but harvesting nuts, whether it be in Cali or pecans from the South, are not a major employer of illegals.
Construction trades... That is at least 50% of the problem. Try and find a legal roofer. You can not. Maybe 10% of drywall guys are legal. Framing, about the same. Almost all landscape install and maintenance is illegal as well.
A big % of lettuce, artichokes, etc. are illegals harvesting but there are programs for migrant workers so it is not as high as you assume. Don’t go assigning blame when you dont know what you are talking about.
I’ll have to order one. I grew up with those lemons, they are the best
If you are in AZ you can also grow figs! (Heat tolerant)

Know my neighbor had a huge fig tree that was full of figs every year.
And that is the way to have them, ripened on the tree!

I hate when a seed gets in my lemonade and I have to throw out the whole batch.
