Only days after Carnival Cruise Line posted the new Covid measures for when ships will be sailing, those guidelines have been removed again.
In a response to Cruise Hive about why these policies have been removed from the website, the cruise line states that in their haste to keep guests and travel agents informed, they posted some information that was not finalized.
Which information had not been finalized yet remains to be seen. However, we can expect to see masks, testing, social distancing, and other protocols implemented according to the same statement in full below:
“In our haste to keep guests and travel agents informed, we posted some information that was not finalized. As we have said previously, guests should expect mask, testing, distancing and other protocols. We intend to provide more details over the coming weeks as we work to resume operations.”
What Will the Carnival Cruise Line Health Protocols Be? Carnival’s fans have been eagerly awaiting to see the measures from the cruise line and how these would be implemented during cruise vacations. There is no surprise then that the Miami-based cruise line would be eager to share these measures with guests and travel agents.
The cruise line currently has in place details to make sure guests will remain safe during a cruise vacation. These are different to the policies and procedures released recently as they have been retracted. You can check the current details right here.
Carnival updated its website with new policy procedures and as part of this change, new health procedures were detailed, which gave us an idea of what’s ahead for when cruises resume. The health policies have been developed with guidance from authorities in the United States and worldwide, including the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC).
Measures that the cruise line detailed coming into effect, but which have now again been retracted can be viewed briefly in our original post.
Many more measures were announced on the page, which is now offline. Whether or not Carnival will be keeping most of these measures or which measures may be adjusted remains to be seen. It is likely though that this will be the case. As John Heald said on his Facebook page:
“We are complying with an industry-wide disclosure process that is part of the CDC’s Conditional Sailing Order. This disclosure includes core elements of our return to service plan which will continue to evolve once we receive additional guidance from the CDC. When we have a final plan, we will of course let you know.”
These measures have likely been retracted again by Carnival Cruise Line because the line is still very much working with the CDC on implementing all measures. The situation remains fluid, and plans could change at any time as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve. It would make sense that the cruise line would not want to create expectations which later need to be changed again.
Carnival Cruise Ship Carnival Has a Lot of Data to Work With Of course, the fact remains that Carnival Cruise Line is in no rush to finalize any onboard procedures. The company has a large amount of data and knowing how to operate safely during a pandemic—this information coming from Carnival’s sister company, Costa Cruises.
In July last year, Neil Palomba moved from Costa Cruises to Carnival Cruise Line to help set up and commencing cruising from U.S. ports. The former Costa President was involved in the Italian brand’s restart; he is currently responsible for restarting Carnival’s operations in North America.
When we will finally see Carnival’s plan and what it will entail remains unknown. Although cruises are currently scheduled for May this year, we’ve all come to expect this to change again. We should not expect any definitive answers before the ships are fully crewed, prepared, and ready to set sail. Before that time, anything and everything can and may very well change.
Open negotiations with Caribbean Island ports and see how it goes. Leave out US territory islands.
The bureaucrats have private yachts. Why should they worry?
Best vacation i ever had was on a RC cruise on a huge brand new ship the Navigator of the Seas.
Breaking up with my GF the week before probably had something to do with it.
Boarding the ship i was pretty depressed.
All alone (My 2 neighbors were there though), top deck balcony cabin to myself...ugh.
...2 hours later?
PARTY TIME!
The new ship itself was pretty frigging impressive...never once felt crowded.
I would go on a cruise tomorrow if i could....just hanging at the pool the whole time would be fine by me.
Masks?
FORGET IT
The big 3 lines CARNIVAL-ROYAL CARIBBEAN -NORWEGIAN may have waited too long, and have many of their eggs in the USA basket.
Right this minute, Cozumel Island, is negotiating with MSC Cruise Line to use Cozumel Mexico in the Caribbean as home port for Caribbean and other cruises. Eventually MSC may become one of the top 3 Cruise lines. -Tom
Maybe not the “best” vacation...i’ve been on some good ones but possibly, most likely the Funnest.
I met a local Miami Fox News weather girl, her cousin and producer during the very first night singles party in the disco.
We all hung together the entire week.
Probably the best time of my life was when i sent my cruise pictures to the EX...
Made sure those pics were something special.
LOL
now life sucks....errr
It’s never too late.
Norwegian does not give any discount if you refuse the free booze etc.
On a whim i went to Las Vegas for a week by myself 3 months later.
Sent those pictures as well.
:)
THAT was a FUN vacation...who would think going to Vegas alone would be fun?

I guess some do and some don’t. The only cruise we have reserved is for March 2022 on Norwegian out of NOLA. I know out TA is giving us 8% off the price quoted on their website.
Nice plan! I can’t plan that long term right now. Have fun on the cruise and let us hope covid is well under control by then.
“Considering how Covid spread on cruise ships even when people were quarantined in their rooms, I cannot imagine anybody in their right mind taking a cruise.”
Hey, I got my Covid after a cruise to Cozumel Jan 2020. It put me in the hospital for 12 days. While there I had a heart attack and received a quad bypass. But I want to return to cruising ASAP, with no restrictions, k? So the cruise lines got -that- going for them....

How have you liked Norwegian? This will be our first on that line. Several on RCI, Princess, and Holland.
All depends on the ship, but norwegian ships are all about the same. NCL is in general better than Carnival.
For example we loved Oasis of the seas RCCL ship. 6000 people and never any crowds or lines. And we hated Monarch of the seas RCCL ship, much smaller passenger capacity but lines everywhere.

Thank you. We’ve avoided Carnival. Interesting. Lot’s of posters on CruiseCritic love the smaller ships on RCI like Monarch. I think it’s because these smaller ships remind them of the days when they first began cruising and all the ships were smaller. We’ll see how we like NCI. Cruising out of NOLA will be nice because it’s an easy drive about six hours. We’ll actually be boarding on our 30th anniversary.
You will be envious to hear JAX cruise port is 40 minutes drive from my house and Port Canaveral is well under 2 hours drive. This is the main reason we moved here, I hate flights and airports. Living in Seattle and trying to catch a Caribbean cruise was hectic, with a full day spent flying and hotel overnight. We did lots of Alaska cruises in those days but that gets to be routine after 3 or 4.
I can tell you one big difference between a 6000 passenger ship and a smaller ship. The shows on Oasis of the Seas were phenomenal. I am guessing the ship can pay for better shows because of the large passenger base.
Is that the ship with a large ice skating rink?
WOW! If you got covid from cruise in January 2020, I must have got attacked by the virus on the Carnival cruise ending on Feb 29th 2020. I had a strange dry cough for about 2 weeks after disembarking. Covid was not much in news then. So I thought nothing of it. My body fought it off, and probably acquired some immunity. Been to 100+ visits to restaurants and stores since March with not even a cold. Restaurants in Florida never closed. Florida is inundated with tourists from other states seeking freedom.
Death rate in Florida from covid is lower than 24 other states. Go figure.
You never been on a cruise and want to avoid one in future?
That is what one of my virgin girl friend said long time ago about sex. I will never forget it, because I was trying to change her mind.
yea it had a smallish rink i never saw it though.
after a full week i still had not experienced much of what the ship had to offer.
i really needed TWO WEEKS.
