Under Armour Dumps NFL Licensing Deals Ahead of Super Bowl
Breitbart ^ | 2/5/2021 | WARNER TODD HUSTON

Sportswear giant Under Armour is dumping its licensing contracts with the National Football League, according to Front Office Sports.

The company axed its deal for NFL players to wear its products on the field, making the coming 2021 season the first in years that Under Armour logos will not appear on the field for years, according to a recent issue of the Front Office Sports email newsletter.

Under Amour’s move comes on the heels of the company’s exit from several other high-profile sports leagues, as well.

Under Armour asked to end its $85 million deal with the University of California (Cal), and also cut ties with UCLA after ending its 15-year, $280 million deal with that school. The company also paid off the University of Cincinnati to exit is 10-year, $50 million deal.

That is not all. Under Armour also backed out of its $50 million deal with Major League Baseball.

Under Armour has re-affirmed its contract with Super Bowl-bound superstar Tom Brady, but other athletes are reportedly re-evaluating their individual deals with the sportswear company.

The company says that it is retooling its reputation, veering away from expensive professional sports league deals, and looking to burnish its reputation as a “performance brand.”

The move comes on the heels of several years of cratering TV ratings across all professional sports.

First they pissed off their fanbase, so their fanbase stopped watching. Then their rating fell like a rock, so their advertisers are stopped advertising. The next domino should be the arenas half full and then salaries across the board to be cut or drop like a rock. Then maybe, just maybe these overpaid "Woke" athletes will start to understand, you don't disrespect the American Flag, the military, or law enforcement.

Do you think the Feds will bail them out?

Oh God, I hope not. Hopefully there’s probably not enough money for that. The way these Communist are, why would they bailout a bunch of overpaid athletes? I think this Communist regime would want there salaries to go down...

I’m all for boycotting pro sports. But I still think the majority of athletes were encouraged to do this. This wasn’t grass roots IMO.

First they pissed off their fanbase.

We stopped by their overpriced athletic wear when they lifted their leg up on America.

It is fun watching them slowly fade away.

Under Armour did not terminate their contract with Tom Brady. I wonder if they are still keeping their contract with Notre Dame.

I’m gonna watch the Superbowl and enjoy it.

Brady winning the SB with two teams?

Taking a 7 and 9 team to the SB the first year?

Sweeping away games in the playoffs?

I didn’t watch any game this year except Rodgers vx. Brady last week.

And this one.

I’m not rooting for the nfl to fail or succeed. The market will decide that.

I dont care anymore.

But I’m not gonna miss what is an iconic game after following football for 40 years.

The thousand I would have usually spent during the regular season more than makes up for the one etra TV tuning in tomorrow.

I’ll play it by ear for next year.

7 super bowl wins? It seems almost impossible.

And now we know it wasn’t the coach, it was the QB at NE that made things happen

True or not tests not the point at all

No one in media, not hannity nor rush (I may be mistaken) not the MFL execs no one came out to say the flag does not represent racism

It does not represent racism. Nor oppression

No kneeler ever explained verbally how exactly the flag represents racism or oppression -/it doesn’t

They may have been compensated to disrespect our country, but that compensation will wane and perhaps turn out to be an entity that had set out to destroy American sports

They’ll have to grovel.

No other way out. All of them -for not stooping it. Drew Brees will be the worst hit

Perhaps the NFL should go back to the neutral strategy of promoting ‘Up With People’ plastic tooth-paste entertainment again that all sides of the political spectrum cringed at.

In 2017 and 2018 UA lost money. 2019 UA earned 92 million. So canceling an 85 million dollar sponsorship almost doubles their profit. Short term a big impact on bottom line, long term could effect growth of sales.

I feel sorry for any dopes that go to that game in person, sing the national anthem and cheer the flyover — because the joke is on them and they nothing but tools.

Steve Bisciotti, owner of the Ravens and a lot of Under Armor, was also a supporter of President Trump. Some of the athletes under contract to UA - notably Steph Curry - took issue to his support of Trump. I wonder if this is some delayed reaction to that pushback.

Super Bowl has a huge PR problem because of the idiot son of Andy Reid.

Drunk driving . the 5 year old girl he hit is on a ventilator. I think he was coming from something to do with the Chiefs

Note his other son died of a heroin overdose

I thought we were boycotting Under Armour for something.

They supported something.......so many boycotts in my life I can’t keep track.
I’m still boycotting Dannon Yogurt but I forgot why! LOL

Looks like Under Armour is sending a “sorry” message by keeping Brady......sorry for whatever reason I’m boycotting them for. LMAO
