Lou Dobbs, the longtime host of the signature right-wing talk show on the Fox Business Network, was canned by the network on Friday night.
"Lou Dobbs Tonight" is off the air, effective immediately, a Fox spokesperson confirmed. An interim show will take Dobbs' place at 5 and 7 p.m. Eastern starting Monday.
It was a head-scratching change by Fox Business, since Dobbs was its highest-rated host, albeit on a relatively low-rated network. He often doubled his lead-in's ratings, which is a rare feat in television.
Dobbs, a veteran financial news anchor, became known at Fox Business for his sycophantic pro-Trump programs. He was one of the former president's biggest boosters on television, and Trump regularly thanked him in return.
In one of Trump's first statements since leaving the White House, he effusively praised his friend, saying Dobbs "is and was great. Nobody loves America more than Lou. He had a large and loyal following that will be watching closely for his next move, and that following includes me."
The pro-Trump propaganda bent juiced Dobbs' ratings. But his far-right programming choices repeatedly caused consternation within the company, a source close to the matter said, and his program was a loss leader for Fox because many advertisers didn't want to be associated with his content.
Most recently, Dobbs was named in a $2.7 billion lawsuit filed by a voting technology company, Smartmatic, on Thursday.

Didn’t Fox just say a day or two ago that the lawsuit against them didn’t have teeth? Why then getting rid of Lou? Confusing.
Most opinions are that Lou was the sacrificial lamb. Being that he was a very vocal proponent for President Trump and the most vocal of all hosts concerning all the many irregularities of the presidential election.

Donne was THE ONLY one worth watching. The only thing that has changed is the regime occupying the WhiteHut. JoeBama wanted him gone and FOX complied. No real truth must be told. The truth is what the regime says it is.

The difference is, Lou was actually friends with President Trump. For quite some time, as is Hannity. But, Hannity is wealthy in comparison to Lou, has many many good lawyers at his disposal, and is quite capable and willing to make things very ugly for Fox News if they push him.

Gee, Stelter at his professional better “in smears”. He looks and sounds like a human turd and his mother dresses him funny.
As for the other guy Oliver Darcy, don’t know anything about him other than he “writes” for CNN, something I would never put on my CV.
Fox seems hell bent on destroying themselves. Guess it is Murdock’s two boy savants who are doing this. Way to go, aholes. You’re destroying your father’s work as well as a good network with some very good people.
Let’s see if Tucker and Hannity bail within the year. Ingraham, I don’t really care for her and her total rudeness to her guests with her usually stupid interjections in the Q&A conversations.
I read that Ingraham just re-upped her contract with Fox.

I hope you are right about Lou coming out OK financially. Since I have reached retirement age, I will say that fighting for what is right is good, but now I share my fighting with some living, as no one has as much time as they need.
I congratulate Lou on his integrity and support for Trump. It is good to have a leader with whom you concur about most policies. Trump and Lou fit that bill for me. I will miss Lou but to be fair, I have already backed off on Fox so much that I will not notice.
I truly do not know how people let their politics mess up their once profit minded business. But, “Asi es la vida”
