Woolworths customer is left in disbelief after discovering her 'scotch fillet' was just 'scraps of steak stuck together'
daily mail ^ | 2/1/2021

The retailer pledged to follow up with its meat production partners and urged others with the same issue to contact their local store 'If a customer is able to return a fresh produce they are not happy with, we'll refund and replace it,' he said.

This is not the first time Woolworths customers complained about meat appearing to be stuck together.

Another woman recently took to social media to complain that her Woolworths 'eye fillets' were falling apart.

'So when did Woolworths start using meat glue to make this atrocity of an 'eye fillet' steak?' she wrote in a Facebook group on January 8.

The shopper shared a photo of the steaks sitting in a fry pan, riddled with holes.

Meat has gotten quite expensive lately. I might have to go to Woolworth’s instead of the butcher shop.

“Woolworth is still open?”

I asked that too. The last WW I saw was in Vancouver and downtown L.A. in the 90’s, and both were located in sh*tty slummy areas.

Maybe the customer expected more fat for a marbling effect.
If that meat was frozen during transit from ranch to store, there may have been some minor deterioration. Some meats don’t fully recover from being frozen, and will fall apart.

Maybe the Woolworth’s in Britain has nothing to do with the
almost dead and gone Woolworth’s department stores inside the US. The market featured here sounds like our CostCo.
I could never imagine buying fresh meat at a Woolworth’s here, if you find one still open. They are more rare than Kmarts.

To my observation there are no “Woolworth’s” in the US anymore— they’ve been gone a long while. Some still in the UK. F.W. Woolworth was the 5 and Dime chain inherited by Barbara Hutton (from her grandfather F.W. Woolworth, and then married E.F. Hutton, as the “poorest little richest girl in the US).

Woolworth, the brand has devolved down to ... Foot Locker, in the US.

This meat must be through Woolworth online in the UK.

No, it isn’t because it was frozen. It is made of smaller cuts and literally glued together.

The disabled Youtube food guy, Larry Wolfe has done several videos on this kind of thing

Believe it or not but there is a K-Mart in the keys. Marathon I believe. They are open but they don’t have much merchandise.

Yeah, that surprised me too. The last Woolworth in my neck of the woods closed down maybe 30 years ago. What a great store that was! You could buy anything there from tropical fish to a camping tent. And of course it had a soda fountain.
