(CNN)Dustin Diamond, who played the role of Screech on the popular 1990s high school comedy "Saved by the Bell," died Monday after a recent cancer diagnosis, according to Diamond's manager, Roger Paul.
He was 44. Diamond first shared news of his cancer diagnosis last month. At the time, his manager said his client's health was "serious" and that Diamond was undergoing further testing at a Florida hospital. He underwent his first round of chemotherapy days later. An actor and stand-up comedian, Diamond found fame playing Samuel "Screech" Powers for more than a decade on the "Saved by the Bell" franchise.

One is the actress and the other is the character.
I remember him doing a celebrity boxing match with Ron Palillo (Horshack from Welcome Back, Kotter). RIP.
Very sad. Per TMZ it wasn’t lung cancer. It was a very aggressive kind of cancer (small cell carcinoma) that originated somewhere and spread to his lungs among other places.
Biden’s fault.
Don’t know why, but he’s the President so yeah....
Wow. Didn’t see THAT coming.
No relation. Mike D grew up Central Park West NYC.
Odd...
He must have had Covid too. Oh wait, we are in the Biden presidency now.
Divorced, then engaged again, doing gigs with Insane Clown Possee, arrested for stabbing a guy in a bar in Wisconsin. I think he had a lot of personal problems...
He didn’t make this one;

I am deeply saddened by the news of my old co-star @realdustindiamond passing. Life is extremely fragile and itโs something we should never take for granted. God speed Dustin. ๐

Dude definitely had some issues. He always claimed that he was treated like a spare by the other kid actors because he was the only one who didn’t look like a model. That has the ring of truth to it.
Thank you!
No foolin', Sherlock!
People who die of cancer are rarely in a "very early state."
Regards,
Sad. RIP
Undoubtedly, but I was also including the possibility that he committed suicide when I made my statement.
do you work hard at being a jerk?
Had an opportunity to meet him in Monroe, MI with my daughter when he was involved with a couple of charities. I believe it was shortly thereafter he was involved in some drug-related (I think) issues. At the time though, he seemed like a pretty decent guy who hadn’t let his fame go to his head.
Regardless, 44 is much too young for anyone to pass. Condolences to his family
