Amid a rising American atmosphere of political death threats and violence, some are calling for a secret vote to determined Donald Trump’s upcoming impeachment trial to protect senators’ safety.
The idea was discussed last time around after Trump’s first impeachment in 2019. Some argued that Republicans were unable to vote their conscience because of pressure from their party and constituents.
Secret votes, however, run contrary to a principle of transparency and senators’ accountability. Critics on Twitter complained Republicans would claim they voted one way, while actually voting exactly the opposite.
This time around, for Trump’s second impeachment, the risk of danger appears significantly higher in the wake of a death plot against Michigan’s Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, and death threats against infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci for crossing Trump - and the storming of the Capitol by Trump supporters.
Former Clinton administration labor secretary Robert Reich was among those suggesting a secret vote in the upcoming February impeachment trial.

If you think a 2nd Impeachment trial is divisive, allowing politicians to vote in secret and then lie about it would only make things 10x times worse.....
It takes a F’d up mind to think up things like this.
Secret votes so GOP Trump haters can hide their EVIL TREACHERY.
If they really want to stir up anger, let them try holding this in secret.
It’s almost like they’re trying to provoke.
Perhaps they should use Dominion machines to tally their votes. Out of a 100 person senate they could end up with 120 votes to remove Trump from the presidency he no longer holds.

I’m sure Schumer would approve of mail in ballots and dominion voting machines for the impeachment if they could get away with it too.
Schumer will be announcing the results of the secret vote as 117 in favor 25 opposed.
They are trying very hard to provoke, that would put off any White Hat efforts as it would be seen by the population as “Look they are the bad Nazi people we have told you about, White Supremacy on live TV folks, as a country we have to rise against them.”
Cue instant Dem run Martial Law.
