That’s right, he won’t be convicted. Leaving aside the absurdity of trying to remove from office a man who’s no longer in office, they’ll be lucky to get five or six RINO’s who hate Trump to convict him.

The Senate cannot impeach a private citizen. Sooo Unless he is still President this is a meaningless action just like a lot of the meaningless actions taken by Democrats and their Republican pets.
Take back the house in 2022 and impeach Obama for spying on a campaign and weaponizing intel agencies!! Strip him of his pension, SS detail, library ect. DONE!!!

Aside from the fact that the democrats literally own the entire US voting system, we should impeach, convict Bill Clinton for selling every military secret he could lay his hands on the the Chinese for campaign cash.

It doesn't go through the SC. Chief Justice Roberts presides and has absolute authority to rule on issues such as whether the Senate can remove Trump from office months after the Comey/Brennan/Clapper/Obama coup and the fraudulent election removed Trump from office.
The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.
Anyone sane would rule that, since conviction requires ("shall") removal from office, the Senate cannot hold a trial on a person who is no longer in office. We all know how Roberts will rule though. The Constitution is so 18th/19th/20th century.

The accused must be in office in order to be removed from office. The Constitution is clear.

The Constitution does not forbid such a move. It is actually silent on that particular point. So if the Senate moves ahead with Trump’s trial, I suspect the Supreme Court will hear an objection to the trial - and for the reason you just mentioned.
What will the Supreme Court do? I’m no expect on this, but my bet is that they will let the trial go forward. And that’s because the Supreme Court tries not to interfere in Congressional procedures.
You’ve got the right idea. Take back the house in 2022. FR is not necessarily the place to openly discuss it. Are you game?
