Former Sacramento Sheriff’s Deputy Shauna Bishop Gets Jail Time For Having Sex With 16-Year-Old

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Former Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputy Shauna Bishop is headed to jail for having sex with a 16-year-old boy. After she’s released, she’ll have to register as a sex offender.

Bishop was arrested in 2019 after the teen’s father, who also worked for the department, expressed concern to his ex-wife about Bishop’s relationship with the boy. The father claimed Bishop was “grooming” the teen.

Bishop pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful sexual intercourse in July. The other four charges she was facing were dismissed.

On Wednesday, Bishop was sentenced to one year in county jail, five years of probation, and she must register as a sex offender. She was ordered to serve 180 days on work projects when she’s released. She can’t have contact with the teen or his family, no alcohol use, and no pornography use for five years. She was also ordered not to have any contact with children under 18 unless approved by the courts. Any violation of those orders would result in three years behind bars.

The five-year veteran resigned from the department in August 2019 after she was arrested. She had most recently worked as a patrol deputy at the north station.

She became close to the boy's mother. Then, one day, she visited the boy's house.

She and the boy's mother took Ambien. She visited the boy's room for some "action"...

Ms. Bishop told the boy that she had a fantasy about stepmom/stepson relationship...She watched some porn videos about it. She had a fantasy about him.

The boy eventually told cops what happened. He thought about keeping quiet. He was worried about her two daughters, one was 16 years old and the other one was 20 years old...He was worried about what will happen if he told the truth...

All these details were revealed in legal documents...

Ambien can cause you to do some strange stuff. I had my family tell me about entire conversations I had with them in the middle of the night.

I am surprised that was not her defense.

I have mixed feelings about this.
A 15 or 16 y/o boy would usually just say no if he didn’t want her in that way.

Legally, she’s screwed, just as a man would be.
If that kid is NOT bragging about ‘gettin’ busy’ with an attractive woman like this, let’s just say I would be surprised. Still, it was wrong, if for no other reason than she has deeply upset the boy’s family. That was wrong.

Without easy access to porn she might never have gotten so worked up to do this. I’m not trying to minimize her responsibility for her acts. But IMHO without porn to get people all het up many of these situations would not occur.

Not to mention that ambien is bad stuff. A friend of mine took ambien one night and fell asleep. The next day his brother calls him from Phoenix and asks him if he’s ok. Apparently my friend had called his brother at 2AM and talked to him about alien conspiracies until 4AM. He had no recollection of doing this. He tried to stoop the ambien, but having taken it for 3 days, he was already addicted. It took him weeks to come off.

Bad stuff.

None of this is to justify her acts. But the insane behavior of many people is often tied to Ambien and SSRIs as well.

and then she and the mother took Ambien and slept in the same bed...

It was her excuse, but was not a good defense. From an earlier article:

In her statement to police, Bishop reportedly said: “several times she was disgusted, scared, and sad and that she had been researching the side effects of Ambien.” The only internet searches police said they found on Bishop’s phone the day after the incident were several “step-mom, step-son” related porn searches, and video views.
