A potent storm system is targeting the Eastern Seaboard with an array of high-impact and potentially hazardous weather, bringing the worst of the clashing seasons just in time for Christmas. Strong winds, flooding rains and even severe weather are likely, with the risk of a few tornadoes adding to the unwelcome assortment.
"We’ll file this one under “things you probably didn’t want from Santa.”
Cities such as Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and the nation’s capital are all in line for a wild ride, while cities farther south like Raleigh could be eyeing a tornado threat.
The meteorological mess accompanies a strong cold front, which will also yield a dramatic temperature drop into Christmas morning. Springlike warmth is expected ahead of the front, followed by temperatures crashing some 30 degrees or more. A few folks may even wind up with some festive snowflakes.
Weather alerts plaster the East Coast, with flood watches stretching from southern Virginia to extreme northern Maine and the Canadian border. Closer to the coast, it’s a high-wind warning, while winter storm warnings mark where a few places on the western side of the system are bracing for a good helping of snow.

Well, we got rain...but it wasn't TEOTWAWKI as was projected. It was actually a bust near NYC.
But remember, they CAN predict long-term climate./s
That is, if they can get the 1,023,200th model to work.
The first 1,023,199 ones have proved to have the accuracy of a Gore or Biden (copied) speech or a CNN broadcast.
Same here. Endless warnings about the massive storm barreling down on the Boston area.
I got some drizzle today.
‘or not”...Right now, the weather folks are just about as reliable as the rest of the media
Lots of rain, heavy fog, some wind and couple new “sticks” fell off the trees for the Dobe boy to carry around in the backyard.
Wasn’t Armageddon but it was rather unpleasant for last minute grocery grabbing.
Today is worse, IMO.
It’s viciously cold.
I’m not a conspiracist, but I truly suspect the “stay safe and home for Christmas” COVID19 losers in govt worked with the NWS to keep people off the roads and at home/away from friends and family.
Got a dusting of snow here in north Ga.
Gone now except for the higher elevations
Temps in the 20s.
Had the cold front swept through a few hours earlier
we might have seen what they were forecasting.
Ain’t working.
I just found out the grocery store is open and so is WalGreens.
Therefore, I’m fixing to go there, just because.
:D
We got a few flakes of snow this morning in Baltimore, but nothing more. I see that there is a film of thin ice on the top shelves of plants on my balcony, but the sun is shining. I heard it’s gonna get bitterly cold tonight, but it’s the Sabbath. I plan on staying home, eating the delicious food I am preparing now (Chicken Marsala, spinach/noodle pudding, homemade cranberry sauce and zucchini fritters) and then curling up on the couch with a good book and an even better cat.
If it gets really cold throw another cat on the fire.
We’re a tad SE of you between Dahlonega and Murrayville. We had a series of snow showers that were pretty and resulted in the GA version of a white Christmas 🎄.
Our high for the day way 29. Now 26 and headed down to 20 or 19. The wind off the lake is brutally cold for GA.

FEARPORN again? C’mon man. Where’s the pig tailed donkey soldier, Greta.
I heard the first SNOWMAGGEDON this year will be named Alexandria OC. The 2nd...storm Biden...the 3rd storm Clinton...
Where’s our new weather channel. You don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows...

Cat fires are puuuurrfict.
West of Philly. Lots of rain and wind last night. Lost power for 14 hours. It was starting to get cold in here!
Well I got up to at least 14 inches of snow and it is still falling. Ohio
In North Gwinnett we saw some flakes falling but more ice than anything else. At 4 PM yesterday it was close to 50 degrees by 8 PM frost and ice all over.
My question is, Why is EVERYONE a Christian on Christmas?
No stores are open.
We were flooded during the night. Between the 2 feet of snow melting and the 6 inches of rain coming down, Creeks overflowing damaging roads...The area is a mess.
My basement is flooded. My two sump pumps decided not to work today. My furnace is about to go under and there is no store open to buy a sump pump. They propbably wouldn’t have the pumps anyway.
This turned out to be an interesting Christmas. One not to forget. I’m glad I’m old so I won’t have to remember it or talk about it for the next sixty years.
At least President Trump is still our President and I have a roof over my head.
Joy!
Being a “meteorologist” is a great gig, just like being a sportscaster...you don’t have to be right and nobody remembers what you said OR holds a you accountable......and I imagine both come with a nice paycheck.
For me the weather channel is pretty much unwatchable...the hysteria is rediculous. Every time two clouds bump together they slap a name or a number on it. Just another attempt to keep people on edge. Living in Fla it gets agravating during hurricane season.
An inversion kept the super-strong winds high aloft!! So most of the predicted power outages did not happen!
Thank You, Lord!!!!
Christ is Born! Glorify Him! Merry Christmas!!!!
As Jerry Seinfeld said, if a seven day forecast was worth anything, you’d only need one every seven days.
