Started the Gummies 2000 same brand.
The article says at the end that >4,000 units a day can be unsafe.
I have the same Vitamin D tablets you pictured, and I take two to three a week.
My doc recommended it for me so I found this interesting.
Thanks for posting.
I have been taking Vitamin D3 for years. Surprised it is still readily available.
I go through periods where i can barely walk because of knees. usually change of weather
I dont like to take things because of how they affect the liver
But for whatever reason
Rhus toxicodendron (poison ivy) pills by Boiron help both me and my dog.
Because I dont understand what it is or how it works I only do it when the pain is such that I would need to use one of those scooters in the grocery store
also for anyone that walks on the outside of their foot ...check the soles of your shoes...corrective insoles might be appropriate if you are experiencing pain in knees.
In addition to taking D, go out at the midday hours, leaving as much skin exposed as possible and staying as long as you can.
We take Vitamin D regularly and all three of us got covid. All the cases were mild and the worst symptoms were a slightly scratchy throat for a couple of days and a stuffy head for about 4-5 days after. I’ve had far worse colds.
There’s now talk of the “gold” brought as a gift by the Magi actually being turmeric. Sounds new-agey but maybe it’s true.

“According to the Institute of Medicine, 4000 IU is the safe upper level of daily vitamin D intake. However, doses up to 10,000 IU have not been shown to cause toxicity in healthy individuals. Vitamin D toxicity is generally caused by excessive doses of vitamin D supplements, not by diet or sun exposure.
Although vitamin D toxicity is a very rare condition, recent increases in supplement use may lead to an increase in reported cases. A daily intake ranging from 40,000–100,000 IU (1000–2500 micrograms), for one to several months, has been shown to cause toxicity in humans...”

“One of the most popular doses currently is once-weekly 50,000 IU of ergocalciferol (D2). While this has gained popularity for its ease of use and fast results, we have seen several cases of vitamin D toxicity and related complications as a result of prescriber error, prescriber and pharmacy communication error, and longterm use of high-dose vitamin D.
One such case involved an 82-year-old white woman who presented with nausea and vomiting and was found to have hypercalcemia (14.1 mg/dL). Upon further history and work-up it was discovered that the patient had accidentally been taking 50,000 IU of ergocalciferol twice daily. How did this happen?
A prescription was inaccurately written for 50 IU twice daily. While we think this was intended to be 500 IU twice daily, the script was interpreted by the pharmacy as 50,000 IU twice daily. Her total 25-hydroxyvitamin D level at the time of diagnosis was 338 ng/mL. The time to toxicity was 5 months.”

I’m 77. Still drink whole milk...with good stuff like oatmeal, tuna and noodles, tomato soup...and try to get out every day. Sunny or overcast, you still get the Vit D. We’re not talking sun bathing....we’re talking 10 minutes.
I started taking it in March and thank God, I have not been sick since prior to my taking Vitamin D. I may buy some more to stock up. I envision a shortage of this in the very near future.
Very helpful thanks
me too!
I’ve been taking 10,000 IU of D3 daily in combination with K2.
Last month my entire household contracted the virus, albeit mild cases. I did not have so much as a sniffle or a headache.
Been working in direct contact with COVID patients all year and so far no issues. That being said, D3 should be a supplement to plenty of sleep, moderate exercise, etc.
I recommend it for anyone, particularly during the colder months when you are less likely to be outdoors.
It varies by the individual. My personal limit is 3000 IU daily without experiencing hypercalcemia. One of the symptoms is whole bone pain. I stick with 2000 IU and that is not every day. In my case, it was right thigh bone, a left ulna, and finger bone on left hand. It leaches calcium out of your bones and drops it in your bloodstream. The main ingredient in rat/mice poison if anyone wants to look it up. That is the mechanism of their death. MORE is not better.
I was taking 5,000, but my doc cautioned about Vit D building up in my liver and recommended cutting back to 3,000. I’m now taking 4,000.
His entire discussion about Vitamin D is really worth watching. I highly recommend it.

Drink a glass of water mixed with it everyday along with D3
Keeps the plumbing moving too.
I was raised the same way. Raised for 10 years when I was young on a farm. Raised our own cattle and chickens and pigs. Drank whole milk, ate farm fresh eggs for breakfast. Had real grass fed beef and healthy hogs. There were people that were our neighbors that were in there 80’s and some in 90’s that ate steak and pig and chicken and bacon with every meal and were healthy and worked there farms forever it seemed. Now all that stuff is bad for you, but why did they live so long and be healthy.
