I've been depressed off my butt ever since 11/4 and I need help. I dont know if meds are the answer but I'll try anything. I am so not myself and its becoming scary.

what some here want you to believe is that you MUST take drugs to solve depression. That is a lie. The mainstream medical community is controlled by big pharma and they’re all about drugging you. God made you fully capable of restoring your own health by providing your body what it needs by His design.

Trust that you can do this and balance yourself without drugs.

Get a hobby and push yourself away from all forms of media and internet for hours at first and then a day or two after that

Definitely confer with a doc and tell everything. They work the best when you don’t buck them. It’s a good moral exercise anyway.

It may take awhile to get an appointment. In the meantime, along with the other suggestions here, I consider light. Seasonal Affective Disorder, or SAD, is a real thing. Do some research and find out the best color temperature for the light; I find that LED shop style strip lights help my mood, and they’re cheap.

Just more suggestions; YMMV.

I understand being in that state of mind.

Although the only drug I took was Coors Lite and some fine Irish whiskey.
Did that a few times and found it didn’t help or change a thing.

Antidepressants can take up to 30 days before a full effect is noticed.

I know a medication seems logical because what else can bring you from this place?

I see you’re in Alabama.......so bad winter weather is not so much a factor. Which is good. Also, to my knowledge Alabama is not a lockdown state, that’s good too.

When I retired from Detroit EMS I didn’t go to debriefing........the department had a shrink that would ask what runs you recall the most and do you think about them a lot.......I’ve been on thousands of runs.......although some do stick out.

I figured it was a waste of time. I guess I’ll never know.

For about 2 years I had nightmares. I slept poorly and would awaken drenched in sweat......a couple of the nightmares were the same situation.........children not breathing, dispatch gave us an address we couldn’t find or they gave us the wrong address.........while children were not breathing.......and the clock keeps ticking. It was awful.

Almost the very first week I retired, this horrible guilt set in. I felt that because I’m gone people will die. I thought that all of the people I could be rescuing will suffer or die. I needed to be there.

Then I had guilt because I lived. I’ve had coworkers die from all kinds of work hazards.......accidents, roll overs, assault, shootings, stabbings and suicide. Some just went insane. Began using drugs, prescription mostly.

What did I do?

I forced myself to shave and shower everyday.
I set times as if I had to be at work so I was committed to shaving, and everyday wearing clean cloths.
It became a routine like it use to be.

Then I found places to go where there are people. Shopping malls, sporting goods stores, casinos.
I would people watch, but found I was still lonely as most people I knew were at work, or wouldn’t understand the ghetto I dedicated and risked my life for.

So, now I’m waking up, getting ready to go, leaving to go somewhere, but now I needed to speak to people. Real people. Internet friends are great and helpful, but real live people are needed.

So I’m a nondenominational Christian, although raised a very strict Catholic. So really Church wasn’t a place for me.

So I went to shooting ranges......there I could spend the whole day. Did a little shooting, but lots of conversation about guns and politics.

I don’t know your age, or health, but my wife brought home a puppy one day. A German Shepherd. My wife credits the pup, named Maggie with helping save my life.

I had to train her, go outside everyday, take her for walks, and even got Maggie into a dog social club LOL. Owners would let the dogs socialize while they bragged about their dogs.

Maggie will be 9 in Feb. Today her brother Duke is 7, (Same breeding pair different litters) and next month their niece Bessie will be 3.......LMAO.
started with just one!

I guess what I’m saying is to start with your basic care and don’t cut corners. Push yourself. Keep adding to the list of things to do or places to go.

Stop reading bad news too! Get away from the turmoil we’re going through. Stay informed, but don’t spends hours and hours with stolen election, and COVID. We need you well. Turmoil and problems in the world will still be here. But you are on a mission. Get yourself well. Then get back into the arena.

Finally, pray. Pray often.

WADR, and it’s nice to see God mentioned, but if that was truly so, the body would not die, ever.

Mg IS a “drug”. It is a chemical you’re trying to balance. Now, sometimes that’s very necessary. But sometimes, it is overdone and causes OTHER problems. One must be very aware of this. Just because you’re taking a supplement doesn’t mean you’re not putting something in that shouldn’t be there.

Mag is a MINERAL. We should make certain we’re getting sufficient minerals across the board, including unrefined salt. Taking ‘too much’ mag causes diarrhea, where you flush the excess out.

I like Metagenics Mag Glycinate and Source Naturals Mag Malate. There’s definitely a few others that are good with these forms in them.
