Rumor on NY sports radio/TV is that the JETS will draft Trevor Lawrence and Bill Cowher will follow as head coach/general manager.

Interesting. I'd be surprised if Cowher comes out of retirement to take on the mess that is the Jets. They had mild success when Parcells was there; none since.

Please, does anyone actually believe the NFL isn’t just as fake as professional wrestling anymore?

Agree 100%

True, just looked at it. It seems that they screwed up the math, perhaps the coach forgot his calculator that yesterday? If they were up by 2 points with 13 seconds left, then their defense made sense (to me) as they would have need 10 or 15 yards to get in field goal range.

But without a calculator, how could the coach know that a touchdown was needed?

The draft I expect. Cowher I don’t. He’s enjoying retirement. Taking over a dumpster fire wouldn’t be any fun. Especially doing both jobs, one of which is has no qualifications for.

Hard to say.
Gruden was making huge money on tv but came back to the coaching.
I think these guys just like the challenge sometimes.

A walk-on must sit out one year of eligibility if they believe they will be drafted by a team they do not want to go to........Some have done it in the past, but is is a risky move............

Cowher's not going anywhere. If I had a quarter for every time he "bought a house in a Cleveland suburb", I'd be rich right now.

It still doesn't make sense. Even if they only needed a FG, they have no timeouts with 13 seconds left. The correct defense would be to keep them IN BOUNDS and out of the endzone and you win. They were on the Jets 46 yard line. You could have given them as many yards as they wanted as long as you keep them inbounds and out of the endzone it's over.

Makes sense considering I heard from a friend who’s a backup on the Jets that the team wanted to beat the shit out of Gregg after the game. Several players literally wanted to give him the smoke because they do not want to lose every game and this was their best shot at a win.

The handoff between quarterback Joe Pisarcik and Larry Csonka was fumbled and Eagles cornerback Herman Edwards grabbed the loose ball and returned it [26 yards] for the winning score.

Thank you for posting that. I remember watching the game with my father, a diehard Giants fan, yelling at John McVay about the call even before "The Fumble". All Giants fans were infuriated because the team was fighting with the Eagles for last place for a decade, and here were the Eagles moving up in stature with the Giants still going nowhere.

Fans burned their tickets en masse outside the stadium, called NBC (the AFC carrier then) and told them to NOT carry the Chiefs@Giants game because the Giants didn't DESERVE to be televised (Channel 4 New York cooperated, and showed a better game). McVay was fired soon after and Ray Perkins came in and started the turnaround. Giants fans in the '70s suffered from a massochism on par with Cubs fans from the same era.

Here is a good full color clip on "The Fumble".

You’re welcome, and thank *you* for the longer clip.

My late father was also a big Giants fan. I went for the then Baltimore Colts, despite our living in New York City for all of my life. Still there now.

Growing up in Connecticut, I adopted the Rams, after being repulsed by the local Cowboys fans. My brother went with the Eagles (Roman Gabriel). Other kids in school went with the Steelers, Raiders, Dolphins. NFL football had been successfully turned into a national sport thanks to guys like Pete Rozelle and Tex Schramm, so NO ONE I knew felt obliged to be a Giants fans, whatever their fathers did. The Patriots didn't even hit the radar. Even the Massachusetts folks were more interested in the Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins and even Boston College than the Patriots, even when Steve Grogan led them to the playoffs.

Boomer Esiason floated the Cowher rumor this morning, along with a $20 million per asking price. He’d only accept if given Bill Parcells-like control. Boomer & Bill do the CBS, pregame show. Anyway, for what it’s worth and as a JETS fan, I like!

I’m not clicking on probable click bait to find out how the Jets “threw” the game so please explain for us.

I can easily imagine Ruggs was wide open because he was the fastest player in last year’s draft and simply outran the coverage.
