THE THERAPEUTIC POTENTIAL OF IVERMECTIN FOR COVID-19: A REVIEW OF MECHANISMS AND EVIDENCE

Abstract

Introduction: Ivermectin is a commonly used antihelminthic agent with over 35 years of established safety data in humans. Recent data demonstrates antiviral activity in vitro against SARS-CoV-2, in addition to a range of viruses. In vitro and animal models also provide evidence of immunomodulatory action.

These additional modes of action are supported by in silico modelling, which propose a number of viral and host targets that would mediate these effects.

Objectives: The aim of this study is to systematically review the published and preprint clinical literature and study results that assessed the potential role of ivermectin as a COVID-19 therapeutic and prophylactic agent.

Methods: We conducted a comprehensive review of PubMed, medRxiv, ClinicalTrials.gov, Global Coronavirus COVID-19 Clinical Trial Tracker, World Health Organization International Clinical Trials Registry Platform, EU Clinical Trials Register, ANZ clinical trials registry, and references from relevant articles.

Results: Search keywords- 'COVID-19 (and synonyms) AND ivermectin'- generated 86 articles on PubMed, 48 on medRvix and 37 on clinicaltrials.gov at the time of writing. Twelve of these were listed as completed clinical trials and of these, 8 were included as investigators had released results.

Positive mortality benefit, reduced time to clinical recovery, reduced incidence of disease progression and decreased duration of hospital admission were reported in patients across all stages of clinical severity.

Limitations: Due to the time-critical nature of the COVID-19 pandemic our review included preprint data, which must be interpreted with caution while it awaits peer review.

Competing Interest Statement: The authors have declared no competing interest.

Funding Statement: No external funding was received

but what are we to tell the docs? “I want Ivermectin to prevent Covid”?

That is exactly what I told my doctor. She said "No".

I found another doctor. She said "Yes".

I have a legal prescription for a "quick response" package that includes Ivermectin, a respiratory antibiotic, and steroids along with instructions on how and when to use them (the "EVMS protocol"). The package does not get opened until the second day of symptoms, and runs for ten-days.

The components must be used in a very important sequence when symptoms present - but not before then. Lookup the EVMS protocol for a detailed explanation.

Quercertin, Vitamin D3, Vitamin C, Vitamin B complex, Zinc, and Magnesium supplements are also in the package. These items can be taken as preventive measures.

Symptoms of a bad case are body ache, fever, headache, and loss of taste or smell. Some people get diarrhea or other stomach problems. It is time right there to start treatments. Respiratory problems show up in the second phase of the disease, along with blood clotting problems and potential damage to heart, kidneys, and brain. Waiting five days for confirmation from a PCR test is courting disaster.

Early treatment is the key.

Your mileage may very. Some people have very mild symptoms or none all. People in a household may be susceptible while others in the same household will be immune. I have observed this repeatedly with friends, acquaintences, and colleagues.

Don't take my advice for any of this, get your own doctor to explain things. That is what I did.

Thank you for the informative link! It looks like 12-20 mg of Ivermectin is the dose and only two are needed (several days apart) if infected.

Ivermectin is da schnitzel . . .

You can take it pre and post exposure as a preventative along with other items listed in the EVMS Protocol.

Wife and I took it before visiting family in PA for turkey day. I violated the freaks quarantine orders and stayed a couple of days to hunt.

A little dab will do ya, about half what you would put on your toothbrush for toothpaste. You get about six doses from a tube of horse paste from tractor supply.

We put it on our finger , then goes on the back of the tongue, swallow and wash it down with tequila. Okay you don’t have to use tequila but why wouldn't you?

Not too bad, other than a weird desire to run and deep hunger for apples and carrots.

That will rise the price. Meanwhile who can confirm (calculations) that with 288,000 Covid-assigned deaths in the US (using rounded figures) out of 15,000,000 confirmed cases then the CFR is 1.92 for the US. Math had never been my strong suit as they say.

There are a lot of "fact checker" pages (like here) denying that the recovery rate for Covid is 98%, but which use the case fatality rate (CFR) yet if the above is correct then the Covid-19 recovery rate is still very high. Including estimated infected persons (infection fatality rate) would lower the fatality rate even more. .

For as ourworldindata.org states,

In the media, it is often the “case fatality rate” that is talked about when the risk of death from COVID-19 is discussed.1 This measure is sometimes called case fatality risk or case fatality ratio, or CFR. But this is not the same as the risk of death for an infected person – even though, unfortunately, journalists often suggest that it is. It is relevant and important, but far from the whole story.

The CFR is very easy to calculate. You take the number of people who have died, and you divide it by the total number of people diagnosed with the disease. So if 10 people have died, and 100 people have been diagnosed with the disease, the CFR is [10 / 100], or 10%.

What we want to know isn’t the case fatality rate: it’s the infection fatality rate. The IFR is the number of deaths from a disease divided by the total number of cases...

We have vaccination confirmation cards on all our childhood vaccines. I looked at the actual card. It tells you lot number of the dose and next dose dare. It is hardly the mark of the beast

Oh I agree, gas_dr. It’s just troubling to think that the card COULD be used as a means by which to deny people the ability to travel, eat in a restaurant, go to school, get a mortgage, etc. if they don’t get one. It’s not envisioned that way now, true. But societal and governmental conditions are no longer what they were when we were kids. And considering the headway that totalitarianism is making in this country, it would be a slippery slope indeed to using the vaccine and accompanying card as a tool to force on the citizenry whatever their “overlords” feel like forcing on them.

I realize this reply is kind of long-winded, and hope it’s at least partially coherent. I respect you and your knowledge a lot, and hope you’ll see my concerns as just concerns, not tinfoil-hat hysteria. (Not yet, anyway) :-)
