On Dec. 21, humans can witness something not seen in nearly 800 years.
That’s right, during the upcoming winter solstice, Jupiter and Saturn will line up to create what is known as the “Christmas Star” or “Star of Bethlehem “Alignments between these two planets are rather rare, occurring once every 20 years or so, but this conjunction is exceptionally rare because of how close the planets will appear to be to one another,” Patrick Hartigan, astronomer at Rice University, told Forbes. “You’d have to go all the way back to just before dawn on March 4, 1226, to see a closer alignment between these objects visible in the night sky.”
1226 - the 6th Crusade started 1228 .... hmmmm
Look around...It’s magnificent.
😳🌟 LOL! Yeah, I checked the optimum time for closeness and viewing in PST(Reno) zone. Yeah, good luck. 10:40 a.m. Low in the south southwest if you want to try.😳
A star lit the sky at the first coming of Jesus Christ, why not another one at His coming for the church. If true, pilgrimsprogress will no longer be posting here . . .
Nor will metmom.
I was thinking the same thing about the star appearing for His second coming.
I’m in Reno too. That’s a bummer. I remember a few years ago though, sometime during the Obama/Biden cursed reign, there was a significant star alignment in December. I pulled over on 395 going North past Lemon Valley on my lunch break just to gape at it. It was spectacular!
800 years ago was also when Genghis Khan was at the height of his power. He died one year later in 1227 from old age, which was very rare for a conqueror. The right in the US could well make use of his tactical genius of achieving victory while almost always being vastly outnumbered.
He was a military genius.
But much of his power came from the Medieval warm period.
It brought mild winters and rain to the Asiatic steppes. This increased the number of Mongols and their horses; it allowed them to move freely across thousands of miles of what had been forbidding steppes without fodder.
Their numbers had been limited by frequent droughts. Now they had a couple of centuries to build up population and power.
When the Medieval warm period ended, so did their empire.
I came up with the theory myself, but found others had formulated it and verified it before me.
The morning right now has a very very bright Venus.
I was camping in the Desert and it was awesome. Until I almost died...

It is a good time for a new beginning.
Twinkle Twinkle
Cool!
So then, we can expect that among the manifold devastations brought about by Global Warming,... no, Climate Change,... will be...
The Mongol Hordes ???
Oh, noes, we're doomed...
“...If true, pilgrimsprogress will no longer be posting here...”
Amen, Bro. Neither will this old fella...and perhaps a bunch of others as well. Unfortunately, it’s going to be a rather rough “row to hoe” for those left behind though.
And at Christmas time. Makes you go hmmm (whether or not it was his actual birth time it is the time that we celebrate the birth of Christ)
Oops, glad you are okay.
Interesting. Being in the suburbs of Baltimore, though, I’m afraid I would think it’s just another search helicopter. ;)
