McDonald’s Is Debuting a NEW Chicken Sandwich, and We’re Ordering One ASAP

McDonald's is entering the chicken sandwich war with this crispy little number...

Who can forget last year’s chicken sandwich wars? I kind of miss when the Popeyes and Chick-fil-a feud was the most dramatic thing going on in my life. Even Wendy’s and Shake Shack got in on the action, but this year McDonald’s is the brand to watch.

The Golden Arches are debuting a brand-new Crispy Chicken Sandwich early next year, and we can’t wait to get our hands on it. Here’s what we have to look forward to in 2021.

McDonald’s Menu Is Getting Bigger

McDonald’s put out a press release revealing its intention to “expand its chicken offerings,” partly by introducing this new sandwich, but they didn’t give too many details besides the name—the Crispy Chicken Sandwich! I’m confident that McDonald’s will wow us with juicy fried chicken, a delicious soft bun (brioche, maybe?!), and some unique new sauce to top it all off.

We’re thinking that this new sandwich will build on McDonald’s other chicken offerings—especially the McChicken Biscuit and the Chicken McGriddle. If you’ve had those delicious breakfast items, you probably get why we’re so excited.

Another addition to the McDonald’s menu will be the McPlant. If you’re not sure what that is, you’re not alone—the McPlant is McDonald’s first-ever plant-based burger. The patty is made by Beyond Meat (you may have heard of them before) layered with lettuce, tomato, cheese and onions, all finished with a sesame seed bun. Even if you’re not a vegetarian, this sandwich will be a guaranteed hit.

Try These in the Meantime

The new McDonald’s Crispy Chicken Sandwich and the McPlant won’t be around for a little while, but that just gives us something tasty to look forward to. We can most likely expect the new sammies in early 2021, though we’re hoping for an official rollout at the end of December. Only time will tell!

While you wait, you can always rely on Chick-fil-a for a good chicken sandwich. We’ve even got your back with the best chicken sandwich recipes to make at home. Right before the heavy food of the holidays begins, a chicken sandwich is a great healthy meal to keep yourself going. I might just go pick one up right now.

Mcdonalds are spotless where I live. You must live in a slum.

People DIDN’T participate in all day breakfast. That’s why it went away.

“Every time I try to order a milkshake, the surly black female employee rudely informs me that the machine doesn’t work.”

That’s interesting. I’ve gotten the impression that MCD has been observing Chick-Fil-A and training their staff to emulate them. Smiles, “thank you”, “Have a great day” etc. and this is across several states, black, white, hispanic workers.

Having worked in fast food, I know the shake machine is a PIA. Has to be throughly cleaned everyday. Germs just love dairy products once they stop being cold. Food inspectors check them first.

Twice, using two different Popeye's locations in Montgomery County, Maryland, I ordered their famous chicken sandwich.

BOTH times, within a half-hour had severe stomach cramps and then the runs all day long. They're either running filthy kitchens or they are not keeping the meat at a proper holding temperature.

It’s a great place for groups that don’t agree well. You got one person that want Chinese, another that wants Italian, and somebody craving a burger? Go to Cheesecake Factory, problem solved. They aren’t the best at any of it, but they’re pretty good at all of it. And I do like their cheesecakes.

Thanks for your analysis, but I’d rather see factual evidence, like McDonald’s company earnings statements with their profit and loss sections since the time they incorporated all-day breakfast.

The owner of a plumbing company that does a lot of work for restaurants told me there’s no way to tell which places are the best kept without seeing details in the back rooms. Completely dependent on individual managers, not the chain.

All day breakfast was successful. Some locations have gone rogue and still doing it. AD breakfast and some other menu items were dropped as part of fewer employees and social distancing, etc, related to covid.

Agreed, usually depends on the franchise.

Here, most of the breakfast menu ends at 10:30 a.m. They have a much smaller offering...breakfast sandwich until 2 p.m. No biscuit sandwiches though. Only English muffin sandwich. I’m retired, and usually don’t go to bed until 4 or 5 a.m., so there’s no way I’d be getting up before 10 a.m., and run out just to get a sandwich. I used to enjoy being able to grab a couple of breakfast sandwiches and a coffee for supper, but that went out the window. McDonald’s and other companies used the lockdown as an excuse to get rid of things they didn’t want to have to deal with. McDonald’s went kicking and screaming to all-day breakfast, and they found the perfect time to get rid of it. My argument is that whenever I’d order, even a burger, and fries...no special order, I’d have to pull up and wait for it, or the French fries to be cooked. So what is the problem with cooking me a breakfast sandwich instead, since I have to wait anyway? I didn’t mind waiting, and would prefer waiting in order to get what I want. Not that I went there very often, but McDonald’s lost me as a customer.

Due to celiac disease (the gluten thing), scrambled eggs and bacon is about the only thing I can eat at McD’s. I miss not being able to order it at any time.

"I miss not being able to order it at any time."

I hear ya'. Their breakfast sandwiches were the only thing there that I liked.

Have your tried Arby’s shakes? That’s where I get mine. And you can choose the size you want.

Take your pick:

It failed. The cost to reward ratio was out of whack. Americans who want breakfast after breakfast don’t go to McD.
