NASA Voyager 2 is receiving commands from Earth again

...After a seven-month hiatus without being able to command Voyager 2, NASA is now able to communicate new directions and procedures to the craft, the agency announced.

The Voyager 2 space probe, launched in August 1977, has been traveling outward for more than 43 years visiting Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune....

I just learned about the 175 year window reading that Wiki article tonight. I remember Dad talking about the launch window, but I always figured there had to be another coming up, so what’s the big deal? It never occurred to me to ask him how often those launch windows occurred.

175 years...incredible, huh?

The Voyager probes were launched when I was in high school. I'm looking at retirement in 5 to 7 years, maybe less.

They haven't even gone a light-day yet. The nearest star is ~4 light-years (!) away. The universe is unimaginably big.
