Thunderbird auto-updated on me the other day, and stopped communicating with my ISP's mail server. I spent a lot of time chasing down the problem and working around it until the ISP can update their TLS version.
Figured I'd pass the info along.

NONE of this worked for me yesterday, I had to reinstall 68.12.1 and because they CHANGED so much crap, my Address Book is Gone as well as the mail I sent, it only took 20 hours to download all the old mail from my server, which was Required before I could use it again. Updates are turned OFF.
I might just go back to Outlook if they continue to allow Children to write Code without ADULT SUPERVISION!!@!

Email SMTP hadn’t been invented in 78.

I noticed they changed the editor, but big deal, it’s still the best mail client for Windows, by far.

Just checked my version number. It’s 68.10.0 but I run Ubuntu and Thunderbird updates via the Ubuntu software repositories. If it ever screws up I’ll just use Evolution for everything. I use it for a few email accounts already that are associated with my own domain names.
Thanks for the info

Its 68.10.0 but I run Ubuntu and Thunderbird updates via the Ubuntu software repositories My Ubuntu Thunderbird is likewise at 68. The repositories don't seem to get updates in a timely fashion, but in some cases like this it's a blessing in disguise. :-)

A little shot of T-Bird in the morning to get that motor humming.

A little shot of T-Bird in the morning to get that motor humming. I had exactly one experience with T-Bird, as a teenager. My system let me know shortly after ingestion that it was an unwelcome addition. Might have had something to do with the six-pack and large pizza I'd ingested earlier.
Ah, those were the days..... NOT. :-)

These major updates install without warning. They should at least have an option to revert back to the old version if someone is having serious problems.
