US President Donald Trump’s administration has reportedly approved the sale of advanced F-22 Raptor stealth fighter jets to Israel, Asharq Al-Awsat reported Friday.
The Move said to come as part of efforts to maintain Israel’s qualitative military edge in the region after UAE is all set to get F-35’s from the US.
According to the report, the announcement was made by US Defense Secretary Mark Esper during his recent visit to Israel.
The US government also purportedly gave its nod to the selling of precision-guided munitions to the Israel Defense Forces.
On Tuesday, Haaretz reported that Israel sought to procure F-22 Raptors to maintain its qualitative military edge in the middle east region.
The US reportedly rejected Israel’s previous requests to acquire the Raptors despite showing interest in the aircraft on multiple occasions.
The US government is yet to officially announce the move. As of now, The F-22 cannot be exported under US federal law to protect its stealth technology and classified features.

Both platforms are yesterday’s technologies. I’m not surprised that we would start selling them, as we did with previous generations of fighters when they became mainstream.

And US/Israel/NATO assets have been regularly pinged by both S-400 and S-500 systems within Syria over the past few years.
Changing subject a bit, for much of last year (really both 2018/2019), global commercial airline flights into Tel Aviv have been flying “horizon” and “line of site”, as Russian radar jammers have often blanketed and jammed all commercial plane radar, and at yes radio, across Israel, all the to the Red Sea, across the Sanai, and including Western Jordan and Northwestern SA. Even Cyprus has complained.
The region looks like a real ground zero in the near future.

A “nod” won’t do to over-rule a law.
Saw in the video a remark about computer chips and such. During the design and review, there were regular Program Management Reviews (PMR) that evaluated updates and added them when building. So, when it first rolled off the line it had up-to-date chips, not old 80’s chips, and since then, PRM’s ensure these components are updated and current.
Funny thing, when the F-22 crossed the International Dateline while enroute to Hawaii they experienced the “Blue Screen of Death.” The software couldn’t handle going “back” in time. (Since corrected).

Congress passed a law forbidding the sale of the F22 to any country. I think this news report is fake news. Besides, the F35 has a lot of technology that came from the f22.
Future air war is not past air war. In the past that would have worked but the future will not be the same. Air to air will all be expendable drones. Air to ground will be drones led by (followed by) fighter bombers (mostly drones). Hell, ground war will not be the same either. Look at the Azerbijan (Turkey) / Armenia current conflict. Drones, drones, drones. Even the ground war is not traditional. Future wars will be completely based on the ability to pay for the production/tech of your weapons systems.

Israel installs their own avionics anyway.
No way can the S-500 track out to 1000 KMs!

I think this artical is fiction.For one the F-22 has not been produced since the 1990’s and the U.S. Air Force is certainly Not going to give away the limited F-22’s it has left in its inventory.
The only way any of this story would make sense is if Lockheed-Martin kept the Blueprints in a digital format so that they could create that Aircraft once again. But even then you would need all of the Necessary machinery to build the individual parts for the Jet.
The plane has been operational for about 20 years so if they do build it again they should have a lot more capability to add to that airframe.
I’ll believe it when I see it. If any thing the U.S. Air Force Needs additional F-22’s more than they need the F-35. Why sell them to our allies before we get what our own Air Force needs?
There is no certainty as to the range but numerous Mil sites say UP TO 1000km. So you run a test and get back if you survive.
Russians build the best jammers and radars - so you take your chances.
If you had actually read what I posted, they say the law would have to be changed first.

Yeah for an all text site where reading is mandatory and headlines are often misleading, Freepers seem to be heavily reading comprehension challenged and reading adverse.
The next thing is long overdue in the fighter realm to replace the 22
And according to the Russian they invented the airplane - other data comes from others observing the actual working 500 capabilities and reading the manufacture’s specs.
I would say the Israeli Air Force has run a ton of tests.
Haven’t been shot down by S-500 missiles, and have actually taken out some sites.
