Bills to end daylight saving time change could end insulin pump glitch

This Sunday, Nov. 2, will mark the end of daylight saving time for 2020.

I am pleased to share that, finally, serious legislative considerations — in several states — are underway in the quest to end the biannual rituals of changing from standard time to daylight saving time (DST). During the last 3 years, 13 states enacted legislation to provide for year-round daylight saving time if Congress were to allow such a change and, in some cases, if surrounding states would enact the same legislation, according to the website of the National Conference of State Legislatures. Full-time DST is not currently allowed by federal law and would require an act of Congress to make a change.

I prefer standard time too, which is how God created it.

Standard time is an aberration created by the railroad-industrial complex for their convenience. God created solar time where days are up to a half minute off from the 24 hour average.

I know. I really miss that about Houston.

I am not saying you have to fix it. The time change has been around for a long time and the manufacturer should have dealt with it in software.

Even having the turkey as our national bird?

The wild turkey is a noble bird and very tasty.

in the 70’s, I took a righteous stand and refused to adjust the clocks in my college dorm room forward or back for a couple years. Drove people nuts. Too far ahead of my time.

Ah, yes, it’s lonely to be in the vanguard.

Just part of the curse of living above the Mason-Dixon Line. I’ve heard how early it gets dark for people in New England and can’t believe it.

Parts of NE should be in the Atlantic Time Zone. Some Mainers have been pushing for years.

Where’s the Eastern Time line boundary now (to the East?)

When it starts getting dark at 3 in tje afternoon you learn to appreciate that extra hour of daylight.

Do you really get an extra hour of daylight when you’re just stealing it from the other end of the day?

Your claimed need for an extra hour doesn’t make sense. DST is in effect when the days are LONGER in the Northern Hemisphere. Wouldn’t you need it more in the winter?

I didn’t realize that Indiana finally threw in the towel and introduced DST in 2006. Now, Arizona and Hawaii are the only ones not participating.

This Sunday, November 1st 2020, should be the last ever time change.

It is stupid.

Leave time alone.

You can get up earlier and enjoy more daylight in the morning.

Because your grandfather knew that although cows cant read a clock they always know what time it is regardless of what time you change the clock to read.

A cow that is late to be fed or milked is not at all a cooperative or friendly creature.

We raise hunting dogs (Treeing Walker Coon Hounds and Plott Hounds) and in the Winter months they get their ‘dinner’ at 3pm because I am NOT mucking around out there in the cold and the dark! (They all have a warm ‘Doggie Condo’ inside of a building.)

They don’t care. They go to sleep as soon as the sun goes down, anyway. May as well do it on a full belly. ;)

Speaking of which...I tend to act that way in the Winter months too, LOL!

Where’s the Eastern Time line boundary now (to the East?)

The border between Maine and New Brunswick. Bermuda is also in the Atlantic time zone. Newfoundland has its own time zone, but only 30 minutes earlier.

I misread the intention of the article. Thought it said to do AWAY with DST which would be devastating for me. As a fairly recent widow now trying to manage a couple hundred acres by myself/no help whatsoever, I struggle daily and often find myself outside until 8:30pm at times running a tractor or other equipment under lights come fall/winter. Sorry for the confusion, but yeah DST is the best idea and should be all the time.

I disagree. I love the longer nights in the summer with daylight savings time. I don’t need the sun to come up at 4:00am in the morning.
