West Point will host the 121st Army-Navy game on Dec. 12 instead of it being played in Philadelphia as planned, because attendance limits in the state of Pennsylvania during the coronavirus pandemic would prevent the Brigade of Midshipmen and Corps of Cadets to attend the game, the service academies announced on Friday.
It will be the first time since World War II -- when Annapolis hosted the 1942 game and West Point the 1943 game -- that the rivalry has been played at a home site. The two schools also rotated hosting the first four games from 1890 to 1893.

West Point hasn’t had one case of C19 since June.
GO NAVY, BEAT ARMY!!!!!!!!!
My guess: This decision was made at 1600.
Deliver Tom Wolf a kick to the shins before he
relents and opens his state on Nov. 4.
Yes, my grand daughter is in the USNA class of 2024. She is loving it.
During WW II did some of the classes at USMA and USNA graduate and go to war in less than 4 years? IIRC the class of 1943 graduated a year early in 1942.
Beat Navy at home! Now if only they would let fans come watch....
They probably could. West Point is Federal property.
Trump controls attendance rules, not Cuomo.
Thats awesome! Oh the tailgates are goung to be THE BEST MOST EPIC EVER!!
I might have to take a trip home for this.
We used to live right next door in the Village. My kid still lives in my house, she works on Post. I sold tickets for Army Athletics for years.
No better time to be had than a WP home game.
Im with you. But it will need to be a blowout for Navy to still be able to capture the CIC Trophy. And Army will have to beat Chair Force substantially, too.
Navy is uneven this year. I dont know which team is going to show up or at what point in the game they will arrive.
but always.....GO NAVY!
To answer your question:
Per Wikipeda as to the USMA, “The Class of 1943 was redesignated the Class of January 1943 and graduated six months early. Subsequent classes, from June 1943 through 1947, graduated in three years.”
I loved going to Army/Navy when it was in New York. Hubby a grad USNA Class of 73.
I have to wonder how much more amped the Go Army! Beat Navy! vibe will be. I can imagine the Navy buses rolling into West Point carrying the team and Midshipmen to be be greeted by tanks, artillery pieces and soldiers in full combat gear.
Regardless of which team wins it is always a good match. The way football (sports) was meant to be.
Of course, from me, I must say “GO NAVY, BEAT ARMY”.
Good for them... that’s a game I’ll watch.
Neat. I grew up about 40 minutes south down the Palisades Parkway. The family and grannies would often go up to Bear Mountain. One of our favorite places was Joseph’s Italian restaurant in between Bear Mountain and West Point. The grannies enjoyed drinking at the Thayer Hotel.
Correct. Additionally, I believe at least some of those shortened classes returned post-war to complete the curriculum. There’s a photo of a review from that period with part of the Corps in Army Class As, because they were commissioned officers and no longer cadets.
ARMY!!!!!!!!!!
“the coronavirus pandemic would prevent the Brigade of Midshipmen and Corps of Cadets to attend the game”
One prevents FROM, not TO. Holy crap, this person gets PAID to write...
Say it again.
GO NAVY, BEAT ARMY!!!!!!!!!
