Yep- I’ve seen some videos- pretty amazing
A while back I ran over a crow at his repast. He was no more aware than that deer I nearly rear-ended the other day.
You wouldn’t catch a proper cat standing in the road.
That said, I’ve watched crows looking clever on youtube. And various creatures passing or failing the mirror test. Very intriguing. But consciousness, however you want to define it, is only to be inferred. Unless it’s your own.
Smart enough to destroy crops and other wildlife too.
Cats can fly ... I’ve seen one fly right out of the window when it peed on the rug.
Probably not just crows, but most species just don't test well.
Scientists have yet to offer objective proof that scientists have conscious thoughts.
Therefore, crows are smarter than scientists.
“Probably not just crows, but most species just don’t test well”
.
That or our tests aren’t as smart as they think they are.
They have a good long distance caw plan.
how does tabby fly?
i fling her.
Crows are smart enough to figure out how to use tools.
BlueJays got a habit of doing that also.
A crow with a chainsaw is a danger to himself and others.
200 dead crows were found near Vancouver, and there was concern that they may have died from Wuhan Flu.
A bird pathologist examined the remains of all the crows, and he confirmed the problem was definitely NOT Covid 19, to everyone’s relief.
However, he determined that 98% of the crows had been killed by impact with trucks, while only 2% were killed by car impact.
An ornithological behaviourist was hired to determine the disproportionate percentages for truck versus car kill.
The ornithological behaviourist quickly determined the cause.
When crows eat road kill, they always set-up a look-out crow in a nearby tree to warn of impending danger.
His conclusion was that the lookout crow could say “cah”, but he could not say “truck.”

Oh, crows are smart, no doubt, so when something odd happens to them that seems like they should have avoided it, it makes researchers sit up and take note.
Just a couple of years ago, researchers for the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority found over 200 dead crows near greater Boston recently, and there was concern that they may have died from Avian Flu. A Bird Pathologist examined the remains of all the crows, and, to everyones relief, confirmed the problem was definitely NOT Avian Flu. The cause of death appeared to be vehicular impacts.
However, during the detailed analysis it was noted that varying colors of paints appeared on the birds beaks and claws. By analyzing these paint residues it was determined that 98% of the crows had been killed by impact with trucks, while only 2% were killed by an impact with a car.
MTA then hired an Ornithological Behaviorist to determine if there was a cause for the disproportionate percentages of truck kills versus car kills.
The Ornithological Behaviorist very quickly concluded the cause: when crows eat road kill, they always have a look-out crow in a nearby tree to warn of impending danger.
The scientific conclusion was that while all the lookout crows around Boston could say Cah, none could say Truck.
Caw caw caw
What did one crow say to the other?
Im dont know, I dont speak crow.
Sorry...:)
I was reading through that thinking huh and Ill be And then I got to the end and thought &*+456@#!!!, I got suckered on that one.
Pretty funny :)
