Entrepreneur Michael Matt Maroone moved his family into a brand new $3.75 million townhouse in Williamsburg in 2018, only to discover that his dream home was a proverbial pig in a poke that smells to high heaven because of shoddy bathroom ventilation, court papers allege.
The family discovered major plumbing problems at the 131 S. 1st St. home, including substantial rain and shower leaks that required walls to be torn down, according to a lawsuit filed Friday in Brooklyn Supreme Court.
Worst of all was an awful odor that turned out to be bathroom exhaust piping that is venting behind the walls and ceilings instead of to the outdoors, the court papers say.
The odor condition is so severe that plaintiffs home is uninhabitable, the suit claims.

No home inspection?
It’s De Dorkio’s New York City.
Are we sure that the smell isn’t coming from the mayor’s office?
Oh well, sooner or later perhaps the NYC’ers will “take care” of the dork.

Has anyone suggested they eat less kale-family vegetables.

Back in the early 80’s when we were looking to buy a house, we went to one that had a great price and neighborhood, schools, shopping and everything.
Went in and right back out.
A dog had died in the house and had decomposed.....................
What a Maroone!
On one of my flips, I went in and found a beautiful relatively new looking Samsung refrigerator. They left it full of food when they moved out ... 3 years earlier, and the power had been off that entire time. Opened the door for just a few seconds ... and it took a week for the stench to leave the house.
Hadji Funk. There is nothing to compare to it.
Never rent an apartment by just looking at an apartment model.
This is attributable to corrupt city managers where in-process construction inspections/approvals were evidently not done or were fraudulent. No way to miss that vents were not tied in to the roof stack unless it was a drive by.
What do you WANT for $3.75 million? The Clampett mansion in Beverly Hills?
Get some face masks. Douse them in Chanel No. 5 and there you go! You have to wear them 24/7 in NYC anyway, right?
Yuck! Once upon a time I had the ‘honor’ of helping a friend remove a rather large dead dog from her house.
Check inside the curtain rods! :)
Cruciferous vegetables keep one’s estrogen levels in check.
Steak and broccoli are an aging man’s best meal.
Take a swig of fish oil, and then go lift weights...

But, the digestive system suffers when blood maladies, poor diet choices and long-term control medicine are used.
Biotics just aren’t in those folks’ wheel house.
Not to mention believing you are so busy you don’t have time to evacuate (at this moment).
$3.75 million? Sorry...no sympathy.Not even a little bit.
Trump’s fault.
All the contractors/developers had to compete with Trump to be competitive so they learned to cut corners.../S
In the 90’s we were out house shopping and the realtor pulled up to the curb of a really nice house in a nice neighborhood. As soon as we got out of the car the smell of curry hit us. It was owned by an Indian family and the smell had permeated the walls and carpets. We only stayed about 5 minutes when I told the realtor it was time to go...
