Back in the early 80’s when we were looking to buy a house, we went to one that had a great price and neighborhood, schools, shopping and everything.
Went in and right back out.
A dog had died in the house and had decomposed.....................
On one of my flips, I went in and found a beautiful relatively new looking Samsung refrigerator. They left it full of food when they moved out ... 3 years earlier, and the power had been off that entire time. Opened the door for just a few seconds ... and it took a week for the stench to leave the house.
Yuck! Once upon a time I had the ‘honor’ of helping a friend remove a rather large dead dog from her house.
In the 90’s we were out house shopping and the realtor pulled up to the curb of a really nice house in a nice neighborhood. As soon as we got out of the car the smell of curry hit us. It was owned by an Indian family and the smell had permeated the walls and carpets. We only stayed about 5 minutes when I told the realtor it was time to go...
The dealer took him seriously and told him two old people had driven it out into the desert, got lost, and died. They were found in pretty ripe condition three days later. The prospective buyer passed.
In one of the Kenda episodes, he said you could always tell when a person had died and decomposed in a room - the damned smell permeated everything.
In some WWII article, a guy who repaired Shermans during WWII said you could never get the smell of burned bodies out of the tank, even when freshly painted. Those new crew members who asked about it were told it was crappy government paint that made it smell so bad.
