Why are politicians not subjected to random drug tests like millions of other Americans?

Politicians decisions can dramatically affect millions of people, entire cities, states, the nation and other countries.

Same with Judges, cops, teachers etc. Their decisions can destroy people. Yet most all these people in these positions are not subjected to random drug tests like millions of other Americans.

Now, with arguably the most important election in modern American history, one of the presidential candidates flat out refuses to take a test prior to the debate. Biden could be elected president of the most powerful country on the planet, yet he's not subjected to random drug tests?

I find this to very odd not to mention a colossal double standard.

Given their access to classified information, I wonder if the DC politicians are subject to polygraphs like those of us in the defense contractor industry were?

And let’s not forget about all their staff.

Who never seem to have to pass the background checks that other federal employees do.

Or to be held responsible for the oaths they took as part of the positions.

They should be. But they write the laws.

I would agree, they should be, not only them ALL Executives and Management, including maybe even Shareholders, that have a drug testing policy, should be required to participate or be Terminated Immediately, just like everyone else.

True Story:

I had a judge ask me and my Lawyer in a custody hearing if I would take a drug test, I looked at my Lawyer and said loud enough for the whole court to hear “ I quit testing drugs after college, I know which ones I like”. He looked at me and told me he meant to see if I am taking drugs by peeing in a cup and having it tested. I Asked the Judge what day he is going to take the test and that I would drive and Buy Breakfast. That was the end of that conversation.

Honestly, advocating for drug testing politicians is a waste of time. They’ll just award the testing contract to a Democrat friendly operative who will mysteriously only return positive tests on Republicans. That’s one way for Dems to override an election and win back control.

Same as our federal Employees. They don’t get tested either.
Hourly employees get tested. But not salary. Ridiculous and naive that they have this view that even grades 13 and 14 are not ‘partying’.

Rules are for thee, not me.

They should be tested along with senior staffers and higher level government employees.

Given my link above, partying may be the least of it.

It is a travesty that they are not screened for drug and narcotic use. I have seen users up close and personal and when those frontal lobes are compromised, there are no limits to the aggressions, bad decisions, abuse of others and manipulations. They feel they are superman and superwoman..The sky isn’t even the limit. Personalities totally change. Those in authority over us, who can ruin our lives on a whim need to be RANDOMLY tested, period.

Drug tests are for little people. Honestly Biden is right. I wouldn’t take a drug test. My answer would be quite profane.

You might not get it, but most drug tests are not required by law, but are policies or requirements by companies, organizations and other entities.

Agreed. Sauce for the goose and all that.

I could ‘pass’ a drug test any day, but I pretty much could guarantee snickering about the levels of caffeine in my system, since I pretty much live on coffee and tea.

Walmart quit drug testing some time ago. They heed workers.

A test is meant to distinguish one set of people from another. If every drug test is going to be positive (okay, maybe only like 530 of them), there’s not a lot of point is there?

Laws are for us peasants.
