Ruth Bader Ginsburg: Obama couldn’t appoint an acceptable replacement for me (Flashback of veiled, arrogant narcissism)

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg says that if she steps down now, President Obama would not be able to appoint an acceptable replacement.

Ginsburg, who reiterated that she has no imminent plans to retire, told Elle that it would be next to impossible for the Senate to confirm a new justice to the court who she would approve of.

"Who do you think President Obama could appoint at this very day, given the boundaries that we have? If I resign any time this year, he could not successfully appoint anyone I would like to see in the court," she said. "[The Senate Republicans] took off the filibuster for lower federal court appointments, but it remains for this court. So anybody who thinks that if I step down, Obama could appoint someone like me, they’re misguided."

Ginsburg, 81, said that she'll "recognize when the time comes" that she cannot do the job "full steam." But, she added, "now I can."

The political argument is legit, but I think it's a verbal shield behind which arrogant narcissism lurked.

I wrote this earlier - her attitude is reminiscent of that when the Lifeguard of Chappaquiddick, Ted Kennedy died. People started saying "well, we HAVE to put a Democrat in Ted Kennedy's seat." However, this isn't HIS seat...the seat belongs to the State of Massachusetts.

Similarly, this isn't Ginsberg's seat; it belongs to the judicial branch of the Federal Government, and according to the Constitution the PRESIDENT gets to choose a replacement, with the advice and consent of the senate.

Ginsberg's views on what she would have liked to see in the court replace her, carry the same weight as those of a house seller advising a buyer on how to decorate the living room after the sale.

If he could, 0bama would have replaced her with himself after leaving office.

Well that was obviously a lie. She stayed until she died from a long illness.

There has to be a conservative black female somewhere in this country. This is a meatball pitch waiting for us to hit a grand slam. Why would we let the Dems off the hook. Make them vote down a black female to the supreme court and see where that gets them.

As a judge she was very involved in politics and that is not what an impartial judge should be doing.

Who *she* would approve of??? Sweetie...*you* don't get to choose your replacement. As a Constitutional “expert” you should know that.

He put in Sotomayor right, so RBG was basically slamming her.

RBG wanted the optics of a woman President nominating a woman SC justice, secure in the assumption that Hillary was a sure thing. That bit of vanity cost the liberals the seat. The screeching we're hearing at the moment is that of people learning that what they assumed was rightfully theirs now and forever, isn't.

As I said on another thread, these things can be worked out by compromise in a normal, collegial political environment but not in one of scorched-earth war-to-the-knife hatred that has pervaded American politics especially in the last two years. They have no political capital, nothing to trade, and nobody to blame but themselves.

As Scalia said, her mind was first rate and her problem was with the knee-jerk stuff. Obama would have appointed an incompetent political hack, you know some Harriet Myers of the Democratic party.

"The political argument is legit...."

If so, that easily negates Traitor Roberts' claim that there are no 0bama judges.

Of course we all know that Roberts is full of 0bama.

She did not want to give Mullah Barack Hussein Obama Soetoro (piss be upon him) her resignation and the appointment. She was saving it for ‘illary.

[The Senate Republicans] took off the filibuster for lower federal court appointments

The Washington Post seems to have made an error here. It was a Democrat, Majority Leader Harry Reid, that removed the filibuster on federal court appointments.

Remember this when you see the Left fawning over her over the next several days as some kind of heroic historical figure.

Whatever her lifetime achievements, she will be remembered as a grasping, selfish and vain old lady who hung onto a very important public service position years beyond where she was physically capable of performing her duties.

There is no doubt that Ginsberg was in poor health during the Obama years but decided to hang in there for President Hillary all so that she could have the personal satisfaction of having the first woman president appoint her successor. Had Hillary actually won, RGB would have resigned within days Scalia's replacement being sworn in so that Hillary would have the triumph of appointing TWO SC justices early in her first term.

Well that gambit failed badly the evening of Nov 8, 2020.

Then RGB decided to defiantly "outlive" the Trump Administration, despite incredibly poor health that kept her from even being seen in public for more than once or twice a year and then only under tightly controlled circumstances. As for her votes, she simply mailed them in and likely did not have the stamina and mental acuity to properly consider the cases at hand. How is that serving the nation?

So Trump and the Republicans have the perfect right to replace this SC seat immediately. They should have had it four years ago but not for this stubborn woman who decided it was better to die in office than to give the hated Trump the privilege of choose her successor.

Her gamble failed and sorry, but it's just not the president's problem.

Well... the first thing they do when taking office is change the drapes.

Obama wanted to put Erik Holder on the seat.
Holder’s racist thinking probably offended even Ginsburg.

Well, Ruthie, whenever you're done greeting your 61,000,000 million victims you can sit back and watch DJT's selection.
