FDA has issued an emergency use authorization for convalescent plasma to be used in hospitalized COVID-19 patients and is being investigated for the treatment of COVID-19 because there is no approved treatment for this disease. Based on scientific evidence available, the FDA concluded this product may be effective in treating COVID-19 and that the known and potential benefits of the product outweigh the known and potential risks of the product in hospitalized COVID-19 patients.

To ensure your continued health and safety during plasma donation, there are limits to how frequently you are able to donate.
You may donate twice in a seven-day period and need at least one day in between donations. Your body quickly replaces the lost plasma, which is why you’re able to donate fairly frequently! As a reminder, during plasma donations, we only take your plasma. Your red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets are all returned back to your body. In whole blood donations, ALL of these blood components are taken and donated - plasma, red and white blood cells, and platelets. That is why with whole blood donations, you must wait longer between donations.

Thanks for the info. I don’t guess there’s much more POTUS can do to counter the state restrictions other than informing the public about HCQ’s effectiveness and hoping that locals put pressure on their state governments. I assume/hope the FDA is conducting studies on its effectiveness as a COVID treatment. Hopefully results will be forthcoming.
Would like to have some on hand so Wife or I could start taking immediately if we have symptoms.
Where I live it takes 5-7 days to get the results after testing.

Looks like it. You can get all kinds of prescription meds on line, hopefully it is legit, cause they is that too. I have gotten other prescription meds on line.
“For prophylactic use” bears repeating. The reason HCQ has been taken for years by people planning to travel to areas with malaria is to help keep them from getting sick. It is not a miracle drug like many seem to wish it was. It can have benefit to some who have the virus but is is most effective as a prophylactic and when the dust settles we’re going to learn that many medical professionals have been taking it despite other precautions to lessen their odds of getting the virus from patients they come in contact with.
HCQ works by increasing the pH of the cellular membrane which makes it more difficult for the virus to take over the cell and reproduce. That’s the only means by which a virus can reproduce, so if you padlock the cell, so to speak, you stop the viral infection. It has other benefits but as a treatment the data is not lying, it does not reverse the course of the disease in people who already have severe cases, which only makes sense when you understand how it works.
It is unfortunate that democraps turned it into a political issue but anyone who wants or needs HCQ can get it. There is alot of BS surrounding this issued, on all sides.

Normally big pharma would push its prescription only product, one that shows safety and efficacy and a wide therapeutic window, to move the product to OTC. HCQ is, for the most part, a generic. So my guess is big pharma may not be pushing this conversion to OTC.
However, under emergency circumstances, would the FDA do so on its own initiative?
Also, would OTC exclusivity be something that big pharma (Sanofi, maker of Plaquenil brand HCQ) push if they had the data and a good societal need case. Surely they are crunching or have crunched the numbers on this approach.

Yes, after wading thru dp’s emissions I found where he agrees it’s effective as a prophylactic. He also mentions the antibiotic and zinc, which I’ve read contradictory things about so will stay in my lane. Evidently either the side-effects (which are not unlike other drugs) or the politicization of HCQ is why it’s not available OTC in the US as it is in India. It’s certainly not because of a potential shortage; two Indian manufacturers have the capacity to produce 1.5 million tablets per day.
