With one exception, the wars in which the United States has engaged since its inception involved our nation against one or more external adversaries. That exception, the American Civil War (1861-1865), still elicits an emotional response among our citizens due to the inherent tragedy connected to a nation at war with itself – the whole "brother against brother" dynamic that is recalled whenever discussions of this conflict arise.
One less common aspect of our Civil War (as compared to other nations that have endured civil wars) is that America was geographically divided at the time by the Mason-Dixon line, which divided the Union and Confederate states. This more resembled traditional military conflicts with external adversaries, and has colored many Americans' idea of what a civil war is like. Unlike our Civil War, civil wars in most nations generally involve disparate or dissident factions fighting against each other and/or whatever regime is holding power.
I'm not going to say that what we've been experiencing over the last three months have been the first salvos of a civil war, but it sure looks like it. While hard-line socialists in the Democratic Party are working within the political infrastructure and behaving as though they are conducting the business of governance according to the rule of law and constitutionally established procedures, they are in fact in the process of fomenting civil war – or at least, they have made it apparent that they are willing to go that far if they are not able to gain ascendency via political means.

The Late Unpleasantness really was closer to a country on country war than a civil war. Both sides had specific borders and boundaries. While families and neighbors too different sides they usually did so by moving, not killing each other in the neighborhood. The American Revolution was much more like a civil war.

Today, whether or not we recognize it or not, we and our neighbors are being subjected to various forms of propaganda by the mass-media machine and the educational system
Rather than the great political divide being identified geographically by the Mason-Dixon line,
we now find differences between the two coasts and 'fly-over country'.
The political and cultural divisions seem to be centered over the differences in application of the 'Letter of the Law' vs. anarchy, chaos, and rebellion,
which replaces cultural civilization with nihilism (the Art of Nothingness) and fascism (Destruction for the sake of Change/Chaos).
The problem is that the enemy is within our own country, not from some foreign country, and they enjoy the same legal protections that we support,
but those protections are the same one's which restrict our physical response to such wanton and willful destruction.
We have allowed the indoctrination of our youth through a public school system which has been infiltrated with socialists, progressive, and Communist ideology.
Within the past decade, NEA was offering, and encouraging teachers to read and implement socialist Saul Alinsky's "Reveille for Radicals" in the classroom,
and offered a free copy to teachers upon request.
NEA is the largest labor union of teachers (from pre-K, through high school) and represents everything from maintenance personnel to educators,
and is just another cog in the cycle of socialism being exposed to our youth, and continues into adlthood.
This is the time to prepare for chronic disruption of the supply chain in response to the DemocRAT 'hissey-fit' of an unbridled 5 yr. old child if Trump wins;
similarly, anticipate the spate of continued violence, looting, and protests even if the Biden-Harris ticket wins.
Obama wanted his own civilian armed corps on a par with the U.S. Army, and he has realized his dream within the radical socialist AntiFa organization.
Prepare now because the social and cultural outlook remains bleak regardless of the outcome of the political election of 2020.

I am not defeatist. I just don’t see any evidence that our side will fight much less win. Oh sure they will fight YOU if you say we should fight. Or just do like Jerry Falwell did. Do something stupid and watch them fill with wrath.
We have no organization.
No leadership.
No command/control.
No communication except the internet which is NOT under our control.
But we have a mighty host of women on our side saying, “Why do you have to be so hateful? It makes me uncomfortable when you talk like that. I don’t want to think about that right now. You’re scaring me!” We have a mighty army of libertarians who will fight you with courage and determination if you say anything about God or Jesus having anything to do with the laws. We have a mighty host of “christians” who will march against you if you believe in the rapture or a six day creation. Try saying something positive here about Ann Coulter or Ted Cruz and watch the bombs fly.
I agree that history can be instructive. I am from South Carolina and know about the Swamp Fox. But I know too much history to understand what you may be suggesting.
When you say “defeatism” that is just name calling. Even so it is irrelevant, as if you thought low morale was the problem. Anyway why would you wonder about defeatism when our cause has suffered continual defeat for decades?
Except Ronaldus Magnus won the cold war, Yes? Trump has got 300 miles of wall built. Right? So not total defeat I know.

A civil war will be like the last one with entire sections and states seceding and it will also be guerrilla warfare with factions inside and between regions, like Kansas during the the last civil war.

Tom Horn made an analogy a few years ago that the “lost” or hellbound are not our enemies. Jesus opened the Spiritual Jailhouse and allows everybody to get out of that jail if they Trust in Him. Those who refuse that freedom, remain in prison and will do so forever - free will and all that.
Everybody is viewed upon by Satan and his minions as a pawn and prize. Misery loves company and he wants every single one of us to share in that eternal misery that he chose. The choice is ours as to what path we choose.

The reason it's not being used is Trump de fanged democrats when he innocently offered to help cities fight back against the looters, arsonists, thugs, and killers.
Trump's offers were rejected because the mayors were part of the plan... they TOLD their police to stand down ...they enabled the rioter, looters, and criminals to get the upper hand.
Trump turned around - caught what was happening when mayors rejected help - and rightly blamed democrat mayors. The country agreed with Trump... and the meme - the theme - of the convention had to be put aside.

You are right. Unfortunately, a Biden win will give the average American exactly what he/she wants in the short run. Riots stopped. The virus banished. Schools re-opened. No more mean Tweets toward people who matter. Friendly relations with China and a resumption of trading practices that enriched a lot of Americans. Evil black guns banned before they can go off by themselves.
The depths of the collectivist wasteland will take a few more years to become evident to the average American, when the dollar collapses. By then it will be too late.
I believe that the writer is correct—we are headed for a Civil War—But it will take an action to set it off, like fort Sumter crisis set off the one over a century ago. These are my theories—and a hope I am dead wrong.
A) Trump wins, the devastated Democrats move on Trump with the Obama Generals to seize the White House. Capture and kill Trump as a traitor to the state along with Pence. They will move on Thanksgiving—cut all internet and news. Nancy will be sworn in as President 46 and vow to restore order. People will dance in the streets and HOPE the people take it peacefully like BLM. China will send aid to the new administration that will end tariffs. Nancy will try to arrest Trump’s wife and children—They will escape to Florida or Texas. Donald Trump Jr. will give an empassioned speech claiming Nancy is a usurper. Organize the CSA (Constitutional States of America) Texas will break away first—followed by Red states. Some blue states will fracture in two—Like California, Nevada, Illinois, Virginia and New York A peace commission will be formed but fail them a strike on Texas will start the ball rolling. Two years of bloody conflict, 3 Million Dead (Mostly by starvation) ending in the Fall of New York and the capture of Cuomo by General Eric Trump. The nation will be in ruin—only winner China. Thats one concept.

The problem is that people who blather “Not My President” after the Electoral College votes are not immediately taken out and shot as traitors, or at least disenfranchised and deported on the spot. Right or left.

You will probably find that 85% are Caucasians who have been indoctrinated by the school system and the media buying into the belief of "White Guilt",
even though they, or none of their forefathers never had slaves, or even benefited from slavery.
There are no known slaves in the United States now, except for indentured servitude owned either by Chinese or Islamic cultures.
Black Lives Matter is a verbal and cultural motto and an easily repeated refrain;
whereas the BLM organization is a Marxist, Communist, Socialist organization of control and unfettered power.
BLM is cashing in on people ignorance about the Black Lives Matter socialist and communist organization.
Most people marching don't know, or understand, the difference between the two because they know that society and common law is based upon the principle that 'All lives Matter'.
There is no doubt that the BLM organization is an international organization as evidenced by the many sports organizations suddenly are promoting the motto ;
this is hardly a grassroots movement which spontaneously erupted on the world stage.
It was planned and staged !
Quite frankly, if what I have put aside were to be expended before I succumbed to a mortal injury, I’d be quite surprised. And I’m nowhere near as well supplied as many FReepers.
