I filled out the census card like six times already and it's not my fault I've been doing genealogy research, lately.

Census worker: OK, I just have to ask this. You're not Hispanic are you?
Me: Si.
CW: *looks up at me, disapprovingly.*
Me: Non.
CW: I have to ask this. Are you black?
Me: No.
CW: [Wife]'s white, too?
Me: Yes.
CW: Is [Wife] female?
Me: You're asking about the household on April 1, you said, right?
CW: Yes.
Me: You can him down as female.
CW: Your son?
Me: Definitely not female. At least not yet.
CW: No, is he white?
Me: No, but we're working through it.
CW: *Eyes confirms he gets the jokes* And what ethnicities or nationalities live here.
Me: [Son]'s French, [Lebanese], [Polish], [Portguese], [Italian], probably some [Arabic], [Swabian]... they're kinda like [Germans] who got lost in what used to be [the Soviet Union], but they were [Prussians] in what was then [Belarus] but is now [Poland], Basque but French, not Hispanic, hey, are they native-American if they're from [Peru]?
CW:
Me: Sorry, I'm having fun with Geneaology.
CW: Can I put American?
Me: Do they have "Rohirrim?" I just found out I have ancestors from the House of Rohan, even though I presumed Tolkein just made that up!
CW: I'll take that as a "yes."
Me: (with no intentional accent) Si. My accent gave me away, didn't it?
CW: I'm done here.
Me: Be well! I mean that! (I did. )
I find sometimes once I get in a roll, I really do SAY most of the things I wish I's said, but I did think later of this, which sad to say, didn't actually happen.
CW: Is he white?
Me: (pointing to the largely Asian neighbors') What... ya figure Asian, right?
If a republic is getting $10 from every person that’s posting vanities we should be good to go this quarter:-)

There’s also one with Christopher Walken, but I can’t find it. The Russians must have deleted it. Those Rooskies are capable of anything.
Also... I don’t post whatever crosses my mind as a new thread or a vanity. I post what I expect amounts to value added for FreeRepublic. Sometimes, I might be wrong; this seems to not be that much of a hit. But if what I hit doesn’t get a bunch of positive comments (including mail responses) and/or a few hundreds comments, I take it as that I’ve let my vanity misestimate that value proposition. I miss the old days when you could see how many people read your posts... I’ve had some that attracted tens of thousands. This won’t be one of those.
Years ago when they first started the “African-American” crapola, I chose that on a form. After all, I was thinking, Africa is said to be the cradle of all humanity.
Don’t feel bad. My sister once worked for an MP for my city. I asked her to find out the real estate value of the House of Parliament in Ottawa. I wanted to know the market value of Parliament, if it became necessary to sell the buildings and land to help meet the interests costs of the debt.

The conclusion, at the time which was about 30 years ago, was that Parliament’s historical value could not be measured. However, its real estate value was about $750 million. I presume that it is probably $2 billion today, or so.
I wanted to put down "Native American" since I was actually by definition, born here in the U.S., which would by any definition mark me as a Native American. My retired school teacher sister (a liberal of course) argues with me about this, but she can't deny that by ALL definitions, I am indeed a Native American.
For nationality i put down ‘Martian’, so there will be at least one.
I just say. Race- Human, Ethnicity - American, one married couple, male and female, over 18.

I’m visiting my youngest son in Indiana, and just a few minutes ago, some census worker knocked in his apartment door wanting to know about neighbors who had moved away. I wasn’t privy to the conversation, but I told him if the census worker had questions about previous occupants, they should go to the office, and not question the other residents. I told him I wouldn’t have opened the door to a stranger like that. I didn’t ask him if the person showed him any ID, because he gets bent out of shape being questioned by me. He doesn’t understand what being security conscious is all about. Even though I retired 16 years ago from a job in Corrections, security is still my number one concern.
You should print up some stories of actual situations, where people opened the door in ignorance to strangers and regretted their decisions.
Online where it asked if I was black or white I put in ‘other’ then filled in ‘Citizen’ since they don’t ask that question anymore . Of course someone eventually showed up at my door to find out my race and ancestors. Damn racists!
The first DNA test I took many years ago assigned me to "Haplogroup J" which migrated from Africa, so essentially, although I'm white, I should claim I'm African-American.
He'll be 50 in February, so any chance of his attitude changing is lost. And he and his wife are liberals. Thank God they don't have any kids, or plan on having any. We don't talk politics.
Although I filled the census online they still came to my door. First question: Are you hispanic? I said I was of European-American ancestry and left it at that.
Hopefully your son will come to realize his error before something terrible happens.
That’s one good thing about working in the prison system is that you get to learn these things without something terrible first.
