The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to replace Hydroxychloroquine with Ivermectin for prevention and treatment of Covid-19.
An order specifying the dosage and use of Ivermectin for both prevention as well as treatment has been issued by Additional Chief Secretary (Health & Medicine) Amit Mohan Prasad to all the chief medical officers in the state.
Sources in the government said that the decision to replace Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) with Ivermectin was taken after encouraging results in Agra, where it was used on an experimental basis.
Sources said that the medicine proved even more effective in not only in the treatment of Covid-19 patients but also in preventing large scale infection among frontline health workers engaged in the treatment and handling of Covid-19 patients.
There were a lot of issues with HCQ. Therefore, we have now been instructed to instead use Ivermectin as per the prescribed doses. We will start distribution of the medicine among frontline health workers and also during contact tracing from Saturday onwards, said Lucknow Chief Medical Officer Dr RP Singh.
The decision and the dosage protocol of the drug were finalised at a meeting of medical experts chaired by Director General Medical and Health on August 4.
For Covid patients, Ivermectin along with Doxycyclin has been prescribed.
For healthcare workers, it has been suggested to give Ivermectin dose on first, seventh and 30th day and then once a month.
However, as a caution, Ivermectin has not been advised for pregnant women or children below two years, just like Doxycyclin. Ivermectin is a broad-spectrum drug with potentials effects to treat a range of diseases, with its antimicrobial, antiviral, and anti-cancer properties, according to Nature.

That’s about the scope of it.....the MILLIONS of ‘issues’ were that Trump mentioned it.
So, how long before the FDA bans Ivermectin?
Bkmk
Quite right, Jane. But if this is more effective...
That’s what time (and any reliable studies??) will tell.
I’m all for what works the best, overall.
May end up being a combo.....to treat the masses.
That drug has been around for years
Used to treat river blindness ( parasite) in Africa and scabies and headlice
One of the worlds safest drugs and widely used
Dont use the whole tube unless the patient weighs 1250 pounds
This is not medical advice....
As soon as people start talking about it
Human drug version is called Stromectol
Not taking it. Don’t care what they say. All credibility is lost.
Boy yeah, you weigh as much as my wifes red pony you got over lying, under lying, and in between lying conditions. First question, how the hell did you get in Walmart? Ive never seen anyone in there wearing a saddle and a mask. Besides its the vet you gotta see.
Amazon or just about any farm store
$6 a tube
Prob gonna disappear when people find out
This is not veterinary advice
“Whats so hard about dividing by 10???”
I read up on the dosage recommendations in India, and this is what I can tell for people who are NOT yet infected (as always, I am NOT a doctor):
1: Dosage is 12 mg (keep in mind that people are much lighter there, so 12 mg might be low here).
2: If you think you had contact with an infected person, then take a Day 1 dose, followed by a Day 7 dose.
3: If you work in healthcare, do the same as above, then follow with a Day 30 dose. Continue every 30 days if your work keeps you at risk of infected people.
The equine version is a tube with about 114 mg in it, by my calculation. For a human wanting 12 mg, the tube is good for 9.5 doses (again, at 12 mg per dose).
So far I haven’t been able to ascertain the risk regarding a human taking the proper amount of the equine version, but if there is a risk, I’d like to know.
Again, do your own homework, and don’t take this medicine without a doctor telling you it’s ok.
It tastes horrible. And the banana flavor is worse.
RE: Dont care what they say. All credibility is lost.
Can you elaborate as to why?
Ivermectin has been in use since the 1970s, who has the patent for this?>>>>>>>>
It was discovered in Japan and an anti-parasitic.
I am not sure whether the patent is valid after 50 years have expired. Its an open drug IMHO. made by many corporations all over ye world.
Found myself mentally calculating the dose for a 200 pound human. Years a go one of my geldings snort an dose of apple out of his mouth and it hit me in my open mouth. The apple flavor isn’t bad.
BFL
I won't believe it until I hear it from the Podiatrist's Guild.
