Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo said all school districts in the state can open and have students, teachers and staff return based on the low infection rates recorded in every region, but the state leaves the specifics of how to return to classes or whether or when to do so in-person to the school districts themselves.
The governor said the school districts have much work to do to inform their communities, answering the concerns of parents and teachers of the specifics of their reopening plans.
Cuomo said he expects districts to post those specifics for public review "by the end of next week" to facilitate discussions in their communities and answer relevant concerns.
“All school districts in the state can open, everywhere in the state … which is just great news…" he said during a telephonic briefing with reporters. "You look at our infection rate, we are probably in the best situation in the country … so if anybody can open schools we can open schools, and that’s true for every region in the state.”
Cuomo said there are three "highly-questioned areas" that school districts need to address for their communities, namely: their plans for remote learning, their protocols for testing of students and staff and their contact tracing plans in situations where positive COVID-19 results emerge.

That is actually so much more rational than what Wolf is doing here in Pennsylvania that I’m stunned.
Perhaps Cuomo is starting to realize the total destruction that coronavirus, but especially progressivism, he and NY State Government have visited on the people of NY.
New infections are much lower, now he needs to present total collapse in NY.
Wonder what DeBlassio will say. Cuomo is taking orders from Fauci.
The fiscal numbers are coming in and Cuomo realizes that NY and NYC are on the brink of collapse. There is no other reason I can think of for the teachers union to concede.

The DNC Politburo gave Cuomo the go-ahead to do this. But since Pennsylvania is still at risk of going to Trump, the Politburo ordered Wolf to continue to retard Pennsylvania’s recovery as much as possible to damage Trump vote potential.
My county has only 8 known active cases and it’s been 10 or under for most of the week. Cuomo has us shut down and masked for 10 cases. We have had a pandemic total of 232 cases. Cuomo killed our already weakened economy. Even most of the local democrats here don’t like him for how he has damaged the state.
Reality is being forced upon them, but they will fight reality to the bitter end.
In Michigan, each District supposedly has their own say as to reopening. However, the Districts put employees before students. If the neighboring District choses not to open, the District making its assessment looks at how many of its teachers have kids in the district not opening and that increases the odds that they don’t open.
Not so fast in the praise department. Cuomo is a political animal and as the wind blows he goes.

By making HCQ, Zinc Sulfate and Z-pac OTC drugs the Pandemic would be over......It would give anyone with a cough and/or fever to go to a local drug counter and pickup the meds and self medicate themselves within the first 48 hours of symptoms. Pandemic over.....Having talked to two physians it qppears they either say they would prescribe the HCQ combo only after someone is very ill or would send them to a central office for testing which takes 5 to 10 days means they don’t know what they are talking about. Older patients die unless they take the meds within 48 hours and stay on them for 5 days.
Yep, either open them up fully or rebate school taxes.

Or I noticed that Pence was on the stump the other day hammering Cuomo over nursing homes. Perhaps Trump got hold of the shorthairs here?
Area (surrounding states) real estate agents are reporting their homes being picked up, partially because of the nearly totalitarian rules Cuomo and DeBlasio have slammed on these billionaire parents!
Now while many of these same billionaires are able to skirt most of their taxes (except those real estate taxes they used to write off but Congress, thanks to Trump, eliminated those taxes,) all the while telling those Uber wealthy moms their kiddies won’t be heading back to their tony schools and resuming their activities with their school friends!

The DA picked up the ball on attacking Trump, so Cuomo can end the COVID scare in NY. Watch Deblahblah screw it all up.
My guess is that the schools will open for Sept but close again by Oct 1.
