Gotcha. Living on the line between utility companies is not good for service typically.

This storm was very hyped, but the far suburbs of Baltimore didn’t seem to be affected. I have power, nothing on the balcony budged (I took all the plants on the top shelves of my wire shelving units down and put them on the balcony floor), a few of my friends had plants fall over but nothing serious. My balcony garden got a good watering! We had a tornado watch until noon, but that passed without anything, fortunately. There were a couple of MD tornados, on the Eastern Shore. I hope the Chincoteague ponies are OK.

This storm will be gone in a few hours. It will stop raining by 10pm. A good time to start looting with the power out.

The humor of broadcasters and reporters mis-pronouncing

Yeah, but you ain't one, are you?

Yeah everyone knows that misanthrope Texas homos don’t have a sense of humor

So you're claiming you spelled it wrong because you were trying to be funny?

When I was driving from NY to NH yesterday, I passed a couple of fleets of utility trucks heading east, in preparation for the storm.

We still have power, which is kind of a surprise, but we’ll see what happens. The winds are starting to pick up here.

Yup. At one point I got the weather alert on my phone for a “Tornado Warning.” The message said that a Thunderstorm that could form a Tornado was over my town. There was no thunderstorm, and thankfully no tornado. It’s all panic-porn.

Tornado warnings are based on rotation viewed on the radar or eyewitness reports.

Just because you didn't see it, doesn't mean it wasn't there.

Would you rather not be warned and then have one hit you that you weren't expecting?

Then you'd probably be screaming *Why didn't they warn us one was coming?*

They are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

We had one heading our way but it dissipated before it reached us, and even if it hadn't, it's not likely I'd see it unless it passed within a 1/4 mile of me. I would hear it that close, but not necessarily see it. This isn't the Great Plains where you can see 20-30 miles in any direction cause there's NOTHING higher than an anthill.

Northern NJ here. A tree town and woods in back of me. Lots of rain and gusts, but we’re fine. We have a Generac, but power stayed on. Quite a sight out there at the height of the storm!

Two dead, three missing following reported tornado in Bertie County

WINDSOR, Bertie County (WCTI) — Two people are dead and three people remain unaccounted for following reports of an overnight tornado in Bertie County.

Sheriff John Holly said a second person was found dead Tuesday mid-morning, and one adult and two children remain unaccounted for at this time. He added that approximately 20 people were injured; some of those injuries were considered serious.

Bertie County government officials say they cannot confirm it was a tornado, but they believe it was due to the amount of damage that was done in the Morning Road area on Tuesday morning.

County Chairman Ron Wesson says 20 people have been sent to the hospital, and three people are still missing. He says the three people missing are people believed to be in the mobile home community that have not been located; officials are looking for them now.

Northern NJ Report: Power is out at my cigar club about five miles from my home. Here we might have had a brief outage but for past three hours, at least, it’s been steady on.

We lost power north of Philly. A tree fell over onto the power line across the street from us. I expect we’ll be waiting a while. It rained a lot here, and we got some gusty winds, but we’ve seen much worse here from tropical storms.
