On Fox News there is a story stating that Trump is going to "Ban" Tik Tok today. If he does he is making a terrible mistake. Tik Tik isn't spy ware, it's the only social media platform in the US where there is truly "Free Speech'.
The Trump Message and his followers are huge on Tik Tok, and people are waking up to the truth all the time on Tik Tok.
Most of you probably are unfamiliar with Tik Tok, it's way more than just "hotties", not that there's anything wrong with that. It is truly the Trump Movement of the youth. Trump is killing his own campaign platform and doesn't even know it.
This isn't about spy ware, it's about Zuckerburg not getting your data, it's about Bill Gates not getting your data, and more importantly, it's about the Conservative message being broadcast for all to see unhindered.
What a terrible mistake you are making Mr. President, please don't do this.
There are other platforms for conservative speech: Gab, MeWe, and Free Republic.

The young people that use it would never vote for Trump anyway and they love being spied on by the Chinese ,LOL
Trump threatening to ban it drives the value of the company lower. Now an American company can buy it at a cheaper price. Microsoft will own it.
We have too many elderly people on Free Republic who do not understand technology and have knee jerk reactions to technology.
Tik Tok is a social media platform. It lets users put up short videos about whatever they want. Sure, it could be teens dancing or singing, but it can be a pro-Trump video.
How can the Chinese, even if they wanted to, use it to spy on you, anymore than Apple, Google, FaceBook, Twitter or Microsoft already does?
The answer is really they cannot.
However, all of the above, and note Google owns and controls Youtube, wants to ban conservative talk, videos, messages, etc.
Tik Tok does not.
Something to think about.

With all due respect, sir, I do not fall into that category. While I am getting on in years, information technology is my livelihood, and I am quite good at it.
TikTok is spyware.
Tiktoc is for kids and college students who are unlikely to vote at all,much less vote for Trump.
I’m no spring chicken, but it’s a foolish roll of the dice.
And waiting a few months to do it isn’t going to make a serious, material difference honestly.

It's not a technical explanation, it is a socio-national explanation.
Yes, Google, Youtube, Twitter, and Facebook are indeed spyware. However, they are US-based, and US-centric. While some information can leak to the Chinese, data access (to them) is not the primary purpose of the platform.
Unlike TikTok.
If Google (who has shown a friendly hand to Chinese) started providing them any sort of access to the data, I'd campaign for their shutdown as well.

Anyway, if you actually go beyond the words, banned, you will find that the order requires the divestment of TicTok in the US. The service will live on with US owners.

I will say this....
I’m less concerned about TikTok than I am Facebook, Twitter and Google. Along with all the other Social media apps that have already cause serious permanent damage to Trump and to America.
Ban TikTok? Sure. Right after you ban Facebook, Twitter et al.
I am less concerned about a possible Chinese invasion of privacy than the very real and obvious threat that political and media regimes have on us through social media.
