I am hot-footing it this morning. It’s 9am and already 80 degrees - heading to 94 for this Independence Day!
I have until about 10am before the sun hits my main garden, so I’m going out to water right away.
That may be all I get accomplished outside today. Seems like a day well-suited to Air Conditioned indoor chores.
I dried laundry on the line yesterday - with the heat it took about 20 minutes for things to dry!
My garden IS looking lovely now that things are popping. I’ll post some pictures later and count that as another ‘indoor chore.’ ;)
Beau and six of our thirteen dogs went Up Nort’ Friday for Bear Training season. You can chase them around, but no shooting for now, and you make sure your trails are mowed and all of your bait stumps are filled with yummy stale donuts and leftover fish fry oil. Yumsters! (I should put that recipe on the Monthly Food Thread, LOL!)
I saw a few Fireworks from the front porch last night. A huge RED spider-y one which are my favorites. All family events have been cancelled on BOTH sides of the family, so I don’t have any food to prep, so that’s actually kind of a nice change of pace for me. Beau hates Mexican food, so I will survive on Tacos and Enchiladas and Taco Salad while he’s away this week. I’ll MAKE the sacrifice of NOT cooking THREE full meals a day. ;)

Greetings from southern New Hampshire, and Happy Fourth of July!
Our four “New Hires” have integrated into the flock. The little one who was apparently trampled by the flock in a panic, finally crossed over the Rainbow Bridge, last week. It never recovered from the incident.
Anyway, I need to do a bill-count, but I believe we are at 28, now!
I need to start the tillers and see about clearing some beds. I will need to whack the weeds, first.
No ripe tomatoes by the 4th of july but my wife’s widely dispersed garden is yielding lots of zukes and kukes.
When they start to come in, it will be tomatoes three meals a day.
(She doesn’t preserve)
Grilled oysters?
Don’t they slip through the grill cracks?
“Corn is as high as an elephant’s eye?”
Or
“Knee high by the Fourth of July?”
You grill them in the shell until they open a bit then you use a Oyster knife to open them while wearing a heavy glove on one hand...
I am starting to think more like a gardner now.
We have had a few cool days here along the coast south of Boston, and in my new 4x4 garden I planted some radishes and the seed package said spring and fall planting but I think the cooler weather will help them out. -Tom

Oh, my. A local garden center has hand painted their garden gnomes a “dark skin color”, smh. I should call to ask if they have any Asian or Hispanic gnomes.
