As Portland protests enter their fifth week Wednesday, the state speaker of the House sent a sharp letter to Mayor Ted Wheeler over police use of force the previous night, saying police were escalating tensions with their tactics.
Oregon House Speaker Tina Kotek, D-Portland, call police actions in her district Tuesday completely unacceptable. Officers used tear gas and other force to disperse protesters near the Portland Police Association headquarters in North Portland.
From the reports Ive read and from what Ive heard from neighbors - counter to what the PPB is officially saying - there was no risk to the public or to officers until the PPB decided to declare an unlawful assembly to permit the use of and deploy crowd control devices, Kotek wrote in the email, which she posted to Facebook.
What needed to be protected last night? An empty office building? Was this need more important than the health of neighbors, of children in a neighborhood, of people returning home from work? The declaration of an unlawful assembly did not seem warranted. The declaration of a riot was an abuse of the statute. Therefore, the ensuing actions by the PPB were unlawful.

Oregon House Speaker, where does he/she/it live ?
How much security?
Maybe time to remove THAT security as a ‘De-escalation’ of the ‘Situation’ ???
Be one with the citizens of your state, Speaker - Be as vulnerable to these marxist criminals as them.
Its the least you could do.
.
Tina Kotex?
Stay in your line, toots.
Oregon. And yes.
“We come from France!”

These kinds of professional complainers have lots of time for politics - the rest of us have been too busy working for a living. That has to change.
