“But I dont want to do it manually. Thats a ton of work.”
Trace is not activated unless you take steps to activate it.
Even. if you do act7vate it, you can turn notifications off.
I’m deaf, so it’s good to go!...............
“I was just about to get a flip phone!!”
Hubby got a flip phone about a year ago. Sad to say, it’s a smart phone that ... flips open. We were surprised, and pissed. I’m not even sure if you can get an old-fashioned flip phone any more. Maybe Jitterbug or something — which I would be fine with.
Mine was inoperable because have Location Services turned Off at all times.
You are not tracked by bluetooth, but rather by cellular data and known WiFi locations.
Exactly. I don’t have bluetooth on, cause it’s irritating, so trace just doesn’t matter for me, bit of wasted storage space.
Whatever. My phone lives in a metal box whenever I leave the house.
So it works for you ...??? :)
Classic scene, for sure.
“This should be a choice.”
It is a choice! OP is causing stress and unnecessary work.
The covid thing works by bluetooth, that’s how it finds out you got within 6 feet of somebody else with it turned on. It says right there on the screen “inactive because bluetooth disabled”.
The Bluetooth is used to determine what other phones you were in not-social distanced contact with.
Yes, I watch it every time it comes on cable, which is very rare these days. I guess it was too close to the truth, that and Idiocracy......................
“Mine was inoperable because have Location Services turned Off at all times.”
It is inoperable because it was never activated.
It does not use location services.
Mine is still there but my location is off so its not working. There are notes about finishing the set up, which I won’t do.
Still, the app did not uninstall following the outlined steps.
“. It says right there on the screen inactive because bluetooth disabled.”
Turn on Bluetooth! It is still not active.
“I guess it was too close to the truth,”
It was exactly the truth. Now that we’ve been retired for a few years, we rarely watch it any more.
“Still, the app did not uninstall following the outlined steps.”
Dont worry. It is not working till you activate it.

Yeah, then you’d have to do the other thing. I hate bluetooth though. The one time I played with it it kept detecting all the bluetooth crap around “should I pair with that, what about this, hey here’s a thing”, just irritating. They’ve probably made it better, but I don’t want to take the chance. No killer app has showed up to make me try.
Hmmm...no whiz here, but mine says to turn on location.
