The NFL hit the New England Patriots with new penalties Sunday after members of their TV team were spotted recording from the Cincinnati Bengals press box during a game against the Cleveland Browns last season.
The Patriots were fined $1.1 million and will forfeit their third-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft as penalties.
The league also barred the TV crew from shooting any games during the upcoming season.

Note that the Pats didn't get to do that before the Dolphins game, which was later in the season ... and they got beat!

Except per the NFL it wasn’t cheating either. It was lack of control over a video crew unrelated to football operations, that given prior hysteria they absolutely should have had iron-clad control.

I'm not gonna raise a strong defense of the patriots ... but wasn't this a while back and it was determined that the crew was a third party company filming promo material for the pats and HENCE this was really an administrative violation? IN other words ... technically some of the bengals practice wound up incidentally in the footage of a non-Patriots but contracted by the Patriots film crew doing an interview or promo footage? And the Bengals let them in?
That's how I remember it -> could be totally wrong.
But If I'm right -> this is just a 'let's pile on the Patriots story' for an administrative violation that the Bengals knowingly allowed to happen and themselves probably didn't know any technical violation was taking place.
That said, I enjoyed and rode the Pats train during Brady years (I suffered as a partial fan for the prior 13 years so earned it) ... but ... don't care any more.

A little mismatch there, no? Dallas IS..er... was the NFL. The time is ripe for new apolitical football league with some of the new rules thrown out.
No more flyover touchdowns. Gotta have BOTH feet in the end zone while advancing the whole ball PAST the goal line.
Just my 1/50 of a dollar.

    That’s all?
Perhaps they were also secretly mandated to trade Brady and replace him with Cam?
