Can a vehicle be turned into a taser? (Vanity)

Seeing cop cars surrounded by thugs makes my blood boil and I am hoping some smart FReeper can engineer a system where the metallic exterior of a car can be electrified to deliver a high voltage, "stune" to anyone touching it. If you can develop and market this idea, make a donation to FR with the profits

I'm thinking something like a big Van de Graaff generator, with the output node connected to the metal body of the car. A nice harmless zap to anyone that touches it...

Or take it up a notch. A doorbell buzzer connected to an old fashioned ignition coil or two with the output similarly connected to the body. Possibly not so harmless - likely to put people into cardiac arrest.

When I was a first-year law student in 1972, my roommate told me about a very early prototype of that.

His brother was an LAPD academy cadet in class when a sweet young thing brought in a big ominous-looking black box, plugged it in, flipped a switch and smiled as all the cadets (all male then) grabbed their crotches and lurched for the door. Somehow the box emitted a very low frequency sound which relaxed the adult male bladder. But it only worked indoors so it wasn't practical for crowd control then.

Israel seems to have solved that problem.

An armed turret, 40 mm, for Bean Bag, Pepper Balls, tear gas, etc. could be pretty simple.

You can already buy an armored Suburban with a roof mounted turret. Typically they have 5.56mm gatling gun, or sometimes a 7.62 mm machine gun.

Probably hard to get for civilian use in most US cities, particularly those with Democratic mayors.

A couple of claymore mines on the roof can also be effective.

The OP asked about police cars.
PD are exempt from the NFA but not the mayors office.
I like 40mm due to the range of rounds it can fire.
Everything from just smoke and gas to HE grenades.

The 40mm is versatile, but there is something about how the minigun can rapidly be deployed or retracted into the Dillon Convoy Escort vehicle. I imagine it does draw some attention when it is in operation however.
