1967 US Navy film about what to do and not do with Brunettes.
Did you watch the video? This was designed for Naval Academy Cadets. Not for enlisted men in Boot Camp.
Mark
Actually no I hadn’t watched it.
I watched the lox AFTER my comment which I thought was something else entirely....
That OJT was fun though...
Wow, was that one cheesy training film.
And those last 10 seconds...my God. That poor man.
Ok, saw the ‘feature’ film..
I can see why they didn’t ‘waste’ it on us enlisted types.
However, the Nuns had covered much of it and parents.
I knew I was in the ‘wrong’ place when it showed that ‘Middie’ in a sitdown restaurant with his date..
We usually met ‘our dates’ AT the watering hole and food was a distant 5th or 6th....
Know what you mean. I was raised by an Army dad and wife(mom). Did 30+ years in service and raised a few military brats of my own. I and my sons still do nearly all of these things instinctively.
Most women we encounter still seem to appreciate it. Most. We all encounter the angry Leftist Feminist who lets us know she doesn’t appreciate such primitive actions by neanderthals.
I think the whole point of it is that it was supposed to be cheesy...we certainly viewed it as such, and laughed...up until the end, which was the whole point, I guess.
In the aviation community, the story has it that the guy at the end was filling LOX tanks on a hot day, and stuck the vent tube inside his coveralls to fill the inside with the cool vapor. Then he took a break to smoke a butt, and exploded.
I have always believed that. It so sounded like something a dumb young guy would do.
We used to use buckets of JP-4 jet fuel to clean the wheel wells and wing roots of the planes, and it sure did a good job, but all that fuel we splashed in there I am sure made it into the Florida waterways.
And it covered us, too. I remember taking my coveralls off, and my skin was bright red anywhere my skin had rubbed against the fabric.
We were stupid and didn’t really think it through, but we lived. Most of us.
Hahahaha, we didn’t need no stinkin’ films! As you said, we had our own OJT!
Naval Academy MIDSHIPMEN. You’ll find cadets at that other military college up north. I forget the name of it.
Thank you for serving. A brat yourself too, eh?
Funny, there are people who are in some way offended by that appellation “brat” to describe a military dependent, but I have never met one in my whole life who was offended or took exception to it!
Like a badge of honor!
Being the younger brother of 4 redheads, my advice is run, run away.
You’re correct.
is the more important of the two. Went to AFEES in 1979 and had to watch Count Spirochet while waiting. Too funny!!
Norwich.
Haha, sleazy horndogs thinking they’re normal.
Good advice. But no warnings about Russian spy girls.
Well now I understand why the Navy has “that” reputation.
Did they follow up that instructional film with this?

Bump - thanks for the link
Yer welcome, lots of good watching there of all kinds of video. Lots of good radio stuff, too, that can be had as mp3s.
