I suspect Musk only goes on the show because he can cut loose, that it's a much more relaxed and not time-constrained environment. But I couldn't finish the last third or more, because Rogan once again shows what a dunce and talking-points-regurgitator he is.

Sure, I cover exploding rockets all the time, but much rarer are the cases where rockets did the opposite. Some Rockets designs rely on gas pressure to support their tanks, and when leaks happen the tanks implode and collapse. These are called 'Balloon Tanks' and they enable much thinner, lighter tanks to be used, improving the performance of the rocket at the expense of making them harder to handle on the ground. The Atlas Rocket used Balloon tanks up until 2005, and the centaur upper stage still uses them.

The partially completed Mk1 Starship at SpaceX's Boca Chica facility was undergoing tank pressure tests when the top few meters of the rocket exploded off and were propelled about 100 meters into the sky. Footage of the RUD was captured by LabPadre and @BocaChicaMaria1... The failure happened under high tank pressure, the forward LOX tank unzipped along the circumferential weld line, resulting in the bulkhead being propelled upwards while the pressure change propagated downwards and damaged the lower parts of the vehicle. The project is in the process of building other test vehicles with improved fabrication techniques, but this will no doubt result in slowed progress.

Thansk, that part was in a clip I'd already started to run, good reminder to go back to finish that.

Hi.

I gotta be honest. I would not strap 20 tons of hydrazine to my ass, pointed towards the sky, and hope everything goes according to plan.

Maybe it’s just me.

They'll be strapping liquid methane to their asses. :^) Oh, and hoping everything goes according to plan.
